UConn with a healthy lotto pick could show Duke rd 2 why leaving the conf tourney early isn't a bad deal

Horrible draw having to face Florida. If we make the sweet 16

Please, if we get this bracket we're absolutely 100% losing to McNeese just to spite me

Part of me still thinks we get a 3. Nonconference resume just better than Wisconsin and Maryland. That likely doesn't change within a day or two.

Seriously? Clemson feasted on a weak league, we controlled tech for 40 minutes, Florida will be the weakest 1.

I don't get the change by Lunardi.

Matrix still has us solidly at 3.

Lunardi had us playing in Dayton in a play-in game last year. But committee gave us a 9 seed. I wouldn't take this too much into account.

Seems he has Wisconsin moving up ahead of us based on the conference tournament results

Guess we will find out on Sunday just how much the conference tournaments factored in

The resumes look close with Wisconsin. Just like before the conference tournaments, if the committee leans on the resume metric, we get the three. If it's on the math it will go to Wisconsin.

I thought we don't talk Lunardi in this thread. What the hell happened?

Seems there is not a lot of faith in here with what you and Colleyville bring to this thread. You two alone completely out class Lunardi.

This is your annual reminder that Joe Lunardi is below average at his job. He is ranked 119th out of 179 in the 5 yr average on Bracket Matrix.

For comparison, Colleyville's score if he were on Bracket Matrix last year would placed him in the top 25 IIRC. I scored his final prediction last year. I checked how it ranked. Pretty sure he would've been 24th.

Lunardi is for casuals. You bring his name up, you are a casual. Me, I am just trying to be half a good a Colleyville, which to be honest, would be really ****ing good.

The top 4 of the SEC are really freaking good. I might revise that list i put out earlier. I don't think we want to play Florida at all. They might just be my pick to win it all. Alabama might be my second choice. Still think they foul too much, but when they are hot, they are freaking lava hot. Not sure how you can stop them for even 20 minutes.

Hope they pull it out tomorrow. They win kind of like A&M does. They do all the intangible stuff right.

Looks like they play the winner of Colorado St and Utah St.
Doesn't Boise or Colorado St need to win in the championship game to steal the bid?

Do teams with less than 20 wins really get into the tourney? I am way out of my lane here but I thought that was kind of a benchmark. tu is at 19 and it seems that should be an issue.

Yep, would be a bid thief for sure. Anybody on the bubble would be considered a bid thief.

Boise might be in as at-large even if they lose to CSU tomorrow. Although Boise would certainly prefer to play Utah State tomorrow just so it could be a "better" loss if they were to lose. CSU pretty well has to win to get in. I don't see a scenario for them to get in as an at-large at this point even with a win over Utah State.

Might be is the key phrase. No matter who they play, a win tomorrow is better than leaving it up to the committee.

Pretty much every year at large teams do, usually more than one. Michigan was in at 17-14 in 2022.

There are a slew of advanced stats that take into account all manner of considerations beyond win/loss record. A&M's 22-10 is better than Clemson's 27-6 despite the w/l discrepancy. Similar concept with teams in the lower win range.

Rooting for Mount St. Mary's tomorrow. They are about an hour from my house and next to a local ski resort. Let's go Mountaineers!

OP updated

Will update tomorrow morning results of Colorado State/Utah State and the UC Irvine game impacts

Boise State moves into the field. UNC moves out.

Dayton is eliminated from consideration after going 0-1 in the A-10 tournament with a bad loss.

St. John's continues to solidify into the 2 line. Maryland and Wisconsin creeping up to the 3, would love to see both lose tomorrow to keep A&M and Iowa State on the 3 line.

I'm telling you, the sooner this board takes off its maroon glasses and we make peace with the fact the Aggies are a 4 seed at best and if things go terribly wrong possibly even a 5 seed. You will all sleep better. We still have to beat everybody in our bracket to get where we want. It's all about style matchups for A&M.

I'll give you 50:1 odds that we're not a 5 seed.

Disagree with this completely. There is one thing that differentiates us from everyone else around the 3, 4, and 5 seeds and that is our non conference schedule. Not only did we play a ridiculous schedule, we also had a pretty damn good record. And most of our losses came in the toughest league in the history of college basketball. I can understand a 4, but there is absolutely zero chance we get a 5.
