Meh, it's 1 game, but all the talk after the early conference slate was that we needed to play a full game. Once again, we played 15-20 minutes of good basketball. Need to be more consistent.

We lost this game, in particular, because our guards and Buzz refused to adjust to the 2nd man help inside the 3 point line on the driving guards. Offense was out of rhythm the whole 2nd half due to guards refusing the ball screens and lack of movement to accommodate the guards being tightly guarded.

Need to fix that quick, because other coaches in this league will follow that blueprint. They know that if you keep the guards out of the lane, we aren't a great shooting team and the bigs(mainly Payne) that can get the ball down low can just be fouled and you will only allow 1 point in that possession most likely.

Wish the guy that hit the game winning shot earlier this week would have played more in the second half. Must of been a big brain move by Buzz.

What a monumental collapse. This team has a ton of heart and plays extremely hard. They are easy to like and root for.

But buzz is not capable of coaching anything resembling an offense. It's 1 on 1 dribble drive and if that doesn't work they are f*cked. It's like watching Kennedy be completely baffled by a zone defense.

Agreed. The veteran nature of this team should have showed itself today and it didn't. This team is inconsistent and great teams are never inconsistent.

We beat ourselves, again. Frustrating how many losses we've had in games we've had no business losing. Buzz needs to fix our free throws, embarrassing to continue to shoot like this with no correction.

We had a stretch where we went unbeaten for nine games that included wins over Creighton, Purdue, Tech, Texas, and OU. This team is absolutely capable of stringing together wins against high level competition.

This is college basketball, you're not going to win every single game. We've had a few wins where we were on the opposite end of what just happened. We are fine.

I've watched plenty and still a bad roster at putting the ball in the hoop. We are the WORST shooting team in the SEC. Some wins pre-conference aren't going to advance us past the 2nd round or win a trophy. I guess the odds are a hair higher than previous years if that's your point. Touch

Why does that matter? We have been able to overcome that by leading the SEC in offensive rebounds, playing strong defense, and dictating the pace of play.

Two of the wins that I mentioned were in conference play lmao if you don't think wins over Purdue, Texas Tech, or Creighton matter because they earlier in the season, I don't really know what to tell you because they count as much as every single other regular season game and every single one of those teams is pretty highly regarded in every rating system that matters.

Everyone wants to harp on the FTs, but we didn't get there enough. Payne and Manny were our only two guys that got to the line. That is not going to result in a good %.

Our opponent getting to the line twice as many times as us is not how we want to play and is typically not going to go well for us.

What's maybe most concerning to me is how we don't appear to be improving as conference play goes on. We've gotten worse at FT shooting and Buzz can't figure out the Xs and Os of offense.

You "show them" when you coach little kids. When the players are basically professionals and your entire system is designed to get fouled to win, that's not going to suffice.

I went to this game, and it was extremely heartbreaking to watch us blow a 51-29 lead with 17:07 left to lose to Texas 70-69 on the road because we only made 3/8 free throw attempts. We led for a total time of 37:03 until the final 3.7 seconds. Consequently, Texas snapped our 2-game winning streak and dropped us to 15-5 (4-3 SEC). Also, we have lost 11 straight games in Austin since an 80-74 win on 1/23/2002.

At some point you have to admit they just suck at shooting free throws no matter how much they are coached. Shaq made a career at sucking at free throws and he was coached a bunch. It happens and the Ags just happen to have a bunch at once.
