I think on any given night, when this team plays under control, with focus and energy they can play with anyone. Over the long haul of an SEC season against the competition there is this season there are going to be some losses. But every team is going to face that. I don't see anyone going 17-1 or 16-2

The only team I could see with maybe any sort of chance going something like 16-2 is Auburn. They have insanely good offensive efficiency numbers. #1 in KenPom and the #2 team is no where close.

I concur. Auburn is on a completely different level. As good as the SEC is top to bottom, they could still dominate it.

I like our chances of finishing > .500 in SEC play. That doesn't sound like much, but 10-8 with our OOC resume might get us a 5 seed, with the strength of this league.

Biggest noticeable from yesterday's game…hustle. The Aggies were everywhere. Only about two or three times did I see blown defense for a simple layup/dunk. This team flying everywhere. Sliding all over the court like it was a five year olds slip-n-slide birthday party. Heck, we were playing so hard we were hitting our own self in da hurtsy parts.

Exciting team play.

Honorable mention…Phelps was less wild at the rim. Seemed to approach with much more control. Still missing shots, but if he shoots 45%, we will be good.

As I mentioned in the "other games" thread, Auburn had a 7 minute scoreless streak in the first half Saturday against Ohio State, and still led 49-21 at the break. If they'll just stop having prison yard fights at 35,000 feet after trading their girlfriends around, they will be trouble.

This Aggie team is great at pulling teams into our style of play, but we have the athletes to do it and they don't.

I think was the biggest surprise for me yesterday, as our games go that was fairly good looking basketball and Purdue still didn't really want any part of it. You could tell they were pretty well over our defense the last ten minutes.

sec network interviewed lunardi tonight. He said Ags are a three seed. Sweet!

Annual reminder he's not accurate until two seconds before the brackets come out

Lunardi also predicts SMU will make the CF playoffs.

Looks like that was done on Friday - before we beat Purdue. Am I reading that correctly?

He had us as a 4 (#16 overall) on Friday in the graphic. The text at the top is an update from yesterday that has us as a 3.

Five SEC teams as a 1 or 2 seed.

This morning 13 of the KenPom top 50 are in the SEC.

The top end teams are incredible but what's really pushing the data into the historic realm is the that middle-to-low end SEC teams are also good.

For perspective, Arkansas is 40th in KenPom, we ended last season 35th and were a 9 seed and finished 7th in the SEC at 9-9, right now Arkansas' rating is the SEC's 12th best.

Watching Auburn highlights it really jumps out how long and athletic they are, a super impressive physical team.

Which will be why it's so fun when we beat them with a sound basketball attack.
