Our assist numbers definitely look a lot better when we're hitting open threes. Against Tech I can remember 2 or 3 plays where Taylor hit someone wide open on the wing and they missed the shot. Those add up in a hurry. 8 of our 14 assists against Purdue were on made threes.

But that Phelps to Payne lob is a play that should be there all season if they can get on the same page. Hell I think we actually completed a lob to Coleman in this game too even though he ended up shooting it as a layup instead of a dunk.

That's been one of our achilles heel is when Wade makes the right read and throws it to Heff/Manny/Solo/Jace for a wide open 3 and they don't convert. The play is there but the execution isn't great.

Some of these guys aren't going to turn into shooters overnight, so it is what it is. I am liking the Phelps to Payne lobs opposite of Wade that way if they collapse the paint, Wade will be wide open for a 3. Moving forward, I think we will maximize our opportunities to win if Phelps and Payne play better overall and minimize their turnovers. I know that's been said before, but I really think that's one of the missing links in getting us Quad 1 wins.
