Maybe I didn't read closely enough but what's the reason?

With no Logan or Hop around anymore, I doubt we'll ever really know.

Does anyone really cover A&M basketball anymore?

Not really.

Luke does a really good job, but I'm not sure how much insider access he has. They did have Logan on Texags Live on Thursday.

Speaking of Marble, is he playing anywhere this year?

Last I heard, he had entered the Portal as a grad transfer...

I don't think they knew from some of the stuff they were saying, at least not for a long while.

Correct, there were some comments made by staff about it being something that would clear up pretty quick and have him back playing and obviously that ended up being nowhere close to what occurred.

TA is a go to for football insider knowledge, most of the basketball content it pretty generic.

This day and age- the general rule should be don't recruit a player that needs to be redshirted.

Definitely true in basketball and baseball.

It also depends on the staff. Buzz runs a ship without many windows.

I heard he's averaging a double double for the Brazos County Detention Center

Eh. I will time and time again come back to we'd have long drawn out conversations with staff about what Kennedy's contract situation was, and it took me actually doing a public records request to actually get the details because Hop was willing to opine on it but not interested in actually getting the info.

Olin crafted his cringe-worthy "how you like me now?" BK article.

I think last week we had an article talking about how we played a near-flawless game against Ohio State in which we shot 19 for 49 from the floor.

Basketball staff on Texags is basically public releases and keeping conversation moving.

Buzz has done an awesome job of beefing up our non-con schedule each of the last few seasons, but I wouldn't be surprised if next year we dial it back a little bit. The program turnover is going to be really insane.
TBH it's our LACK of program turnover in the age of the Portal that's insane. Player after player has taken advantage of their COVID year to stay and play. Buzz players who get any kind of minutes just don't leave the program until every second of their eligibility is used.

That makes it's really difficult for FR to even get into the bench rotation much less start.

The result this year is a 10 deep rotation this season of mostly seniors and grad students with a few juniors thrown in. This team has a chance to do something really special this year, but it will be an almost total rebuild next year.

Buzz has shown good skill getting immediate contributors from the portal so it may not be the end of the world.

I'm not arguing with you here regarding TexAgs, why I said "also," just saying that Buzz runs a pretty guarded program compared to a lot of coaches.

BTW you're taking that "near perfect" thing a little out of context, though I don't blame you because the headline did too, but what Olin actually wrote was "a near-perfect display of their style of play."

Hard to argue that, it was an extremely Buzz-ball game.

I'm definitely not one to defend Olin's basketball writing, but it's not exactly like he said it was near-perfect basketball.

What is strange to me is that in this season where we have as much reason for optimism as we've had in a long time, there is virtually no buzz at all. Pun intended. It's as quiet as I can remember. What gives?

The football team is still playing games that matter. I think that's like 90% of it.

We wouldn't know anything even if both of those were around. Not a knock on them, Buzz just isn't likely to say much about it other than something like "he is no longer with the team".

100% the lack of turnover we have had is an anomaly. The near complete lack of turnover the last several years is precisely why we'll have a complete turnover this coming year. Buzz was building to this from a continuity perspective. It will just be very stark when we take the floor next year without basically the same six guys who have gotten a ton of minutes for 3-4 straight years.

That is an offseason conversation though! The experience and continuity of this team, plus the couple of key additions you mention, is why I am still really high on the potential of this season.

we've averaged 5 transfers per year for the past 4 years. 4 per year for the past 3. That's pretty much the national average. We don't really have any more continuity than anyone else.

What we've done is stack almost all of our portal additions in the same class on top of 3 seniors who have been here the whole time. 5 of our seniors are transfers and only 1 transfer on the entire roster isn't a senior. Buzz pushed all the chips to the middle of the table this year.

This isn't true if you're looking at playing minutes. By KenPom's "minutes continuity" we're #8 out of 350+ teams, and second among the power conference teams (Notre Dame.)

We're definitely an outlier this year from a returning minutes and production standpoint.

You're last point is definitely true though, several of our moves were made to maximize this season.
