Rutgers is in the bucket with us with a loss I think.

That's what I'm going to start calling the teams that I think are hard to separate. There's the bubble, but within the bubble there's the bucket.

The bubble is anyone that could still either rise into, or fall out of, the tournament. The bucket is the group of teams that I think the committee could basically put in any order.

On Sunday the bucket becomes the bubble.

2 more wins and none of this matters!

I'm guessing he doesn't really spend much time ranking the out teams.

Need Iowa to run Rutgers this half.

Can anyone explain why Rutgers is considered in relatively safely? That resume doesn't look like a team that is anywhere near safe. I don't understand how a loss here doesn't ultimately eliminate then, especially if it's by double digits.

Just a number of big wins.

Though I think they're in significantly more danger than most people think.

From The Athletic:
Quote:

Texas A&M (21-11, 9-9; NET: 55, SOS: 56): On Thursday, just after Texas A&M held on for a thrilling overtime win against Florida, we kind of killed the buzz. (No pun intended there, we promise, but that one's pretty good.) Yes, nice win, and yes, A&M got to stay on the page on the back of it, but let's be real: This team wasn't really in the actual bubble mix. It was next four out, at best. It would need to beat Auburn Friday, which, hey, good luck with that. At which point, Texas A&M turned around and promptly beat Auburn and did it semi-comfortably, too.

Raise whatever concerns you want about Auburn; we're right there with you. (Our power rankings, for example, has of late noted Auburn's ugly offensive performances away from Auburn Arena in SEC play, and that if that form carried over on to neutral venues, the Tigers would be in trouble. It certainly carried over today.) But Texas A&M is undoubtedly playing like a tournament team right now. The Aggies look hugely confident, totally assured of what they're doing on each and every possession. A&M now has its third (and best) Quadrant 1 victory, added to a resume that features a 5-0 record against Quadrant 2 and just two "bad" losses (at home to South Carolina, which isn't really a bad loss, and at home to Missouri, which definitely is). You could make a real argument to find a way to get this team in the field over someone like SMU or Wake Forest or BYU, assuming those teams are even in the field as it stands anyway. At the absolute least, the Aggies are in the real bubble mix now suddenly in with as good a chance to get in as any of the teams that have spent the past three months hovering on the bubble. What a push.

Last several minutes have been pretty awful from Iowa. Need them to turn it on and finish this one out comfortably.

Wonder how far LSU will drop if they keep this up against Arkansas. They look like trash.

Iowa is a fun team to watch. That was definitely a rough patch but man the ball moves.

Doubt LSU falls below the 9 line at worst. And they're either going to get blown out by an 8 seed or like beat Gonzaga.

Lost in the chaos of yesterday, but the Hawkeyes dropped 112 on Northwestern, including 64 in the first half.

That's insane in the modern era of college hoops.

I saw the box score and couldn't believe it. I haven't watched them much this season so was looking forward to this.

It's nice to watch.

Iowa basketball has to compensate for their football team's complete lack of offense.

Assuming Rutgers can't get past Iowa, a big assumption since there's still 5:00 left in the game, then essentially the committee would be saying that 4 very good wins are sufficient to trump a very poor overall computer/efficiency profile (when measured against the other bubble teams) and losses to:

Depaul (Net 103)
Lafayette @ home (Net 320, yes 320 at home)
UMass (Net 181)
Minnesotta (Net 110)

To put this in perspective, our worst loss is to Missouri at Net 147 and we have no others below 100.

So Rutgers has a very average overall record, a poor efficiency profile and some hideous losses to go with 4 very good wins.

I can't see this team getting in. I think if they do, this constitutes some sort of nefarious agenda on behalf of the committee. The more I look at the resume, I actually can't believe so many of these "experts" like Lunardi haven't seen fit to put this team to the back of the bus.

I'm not sure this resume is as good as Mississippi State.

Heartbreak for the Bonnies. Down 1 and get fouled with 2 seconds left, misses both free throws

Didn't see it mentioned a lot but UNT...woof. Talk about going out with a whimper losing in a football score to La Tech 42-36.

Crazy end to a good season. Loss over the weekend that killed their at-large chances and then lose in the conference tourney and they're going to miss the dance completely.

I had the ML on Saint Louis and read it was the Bonnies best player and 83% FT shooter. Lucky as hell for me.

I don't think wake forest, Xavier, and rutgers have a better resume than us. And I don't understand why notre dame is considered a lock. I'm not saying they shouldn't be in but it should at least be a conversation in my opinion.

Why is LSU automatically considered a lock while many think we are still on the outside looking in?

Both teams are 22-11, both finished 9-9 in the SEC.

LSU Best Wins: vs UK, vs Tennessee, vs Bama, @ Wake Forrest

A&M Best Wins: neutral Auburn, vs Arky, @Bama, neutral ND

Sure they beat us twice but when you put the two resumes next to each other they are nearly identical, yet this morning Lunardi had LSU as a FIVE seed.
