Too soon???
But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)

Didn't think about this, but yeah hopefully his agent and circle around him has a responsible and trustworthy financial manager. A lot of vultures out there, including often friends and relatives. Rough start though as apparently they don't even have a good alarm clock yet in place.Seven Costanza said:
I always thought he seemed to have a naive, child-like quality about him, with actions that you'd expect from an average 12-year old that was left alone. Hopefully they get him some sort of mentor that doesn't allow him to get taken advantage of financially.
Yes, he flew from Boston back to College Station per Celtics article on this:agincs93 said:
he was on northgate Friday night wearing a NBA hoodie. Probs went out Saturday too.

Williams biggest mistake this time appears to be his decision to fly back to College Station, Texas, following his introductory press conference in Boston on Friday to deal with personal business. The short turnaround was apparently too much for Williams to negotiate.

Celtics first-round pick Robert Williams, who missed the team's first summer league practice on Sunday after missing his flight to Boston, returned in time to take part in Monday morning's session.
Quote:
President of basketball operations Danny Ainge said in a phone interview on Monday that he would not defend Williams's absence, but he also did not want to harp on it.
"I'm moving on," Ainge said. "Today's a new day. We're trying to provide structure for all of our players, but yes, we need structure around Robert."
Williams, the 27th overall pick in last month's draft, attended his introductory news conference in Boston on Friday morning before taking part in a community event here later in the afternoon. The former Texas A&M star flew back to College Station, Texas, Friday night and was initially scheduled to return to Boston on Saturday. But Williams then moved that flight back to Sunday and missed that departure.
yeah, danuel caruso is a bum. he oversleeps and sucks at basketball. wait, how do you know him again?Pumpkinhead said:
Good news. Robert made it for the second day of practice. Fortunately, he has the talent to get more chances. Had somebody like an Alex Caruso, Danuel Caruso, or Jalen Jones missed their first NBA summer team practice back in the summer of 2016 after signing as unrestricted free agents, probably they'd have simply gotten a text message from a secretary telling them to don't bother showing up for Day #2 of practice.Quote:

Was there no reporter curious enough to ask the Celtics why? The Celtics organization was obviously very upset about Robert's "blunders."Nebules said:
I'm curious if the CLL missed flight was due to oversleeping like the earlier missed conference call.

In this segment yesterday, John Goodman says the Celtics are partly addressing RW's immaturity issues by bringing in one of Robert's old high school coaches from Louisiana plus a personal trainer (associated with Robert's agent) who are going to move to Boston and live with him.

It's an extremely crowded roster, and it's hard to say what sort of lineups they will use re-incorporating Hayward into the rotation. They resigned Aron Baynes, so he'll likely get the majority of C minutes when Horford isn't playing the 5. But if they don't resign Greg Monroe, that's potentially 20 minute per night they will need to make up and Robert would be a logical replacement.Double Diamond said:
I doubt Robert Williams plays much next year outside of garbage. Already saying Robert is a hard 5. They have centers glore in front of him. It's an interesting team more than a good situation. Celtics will give Robert things to help him, but will move on quickly if he doesn't get in line.

Can't make this up; listening to the Locked on Celtics Podcast. Robert Williams doesn't know how to set a screen. Yea, this wasn't something taught at A&M. Good night we've complained about poor screening for eight years.
