White might have been picky, I don't remember if he was connected to any other jobs in 14-15 but he didn't take any until May when Florida came open.

Wade also could have been waiting out some jobs, LSU is a pretty good job and a pretty easy place to win historically.

Drew actually was connected with some other jobs, most notably DePaul, before taking the job at Vanderbilt, but I'd also consider Vandy as a pretty attractive job.

But plenty of up and coming coaches are careful about what jobs they take. Shaka turned down several before Texas, Marshall still hasn't left Wichita (though now he's probably no longer up-and-coming), Woj was linked to a lot of jobs before taking the Marquette job.

Not saying that Ole Miss couldn't throw something attractive at an up-and-comer, I'm just interested to see where this search goes.

A .620 winning % isn't average at Ole Miss.

So you think Ole Miss should just go "well, a little above average is all we could ever hope to achieve" and keep Andy Kennedy?

No I think it might be time for new blood. I don't think it's been average under Andy Kennedy. If it's easy to win over 60% of your games at Ole Miss why don't more do it?

It hasn't been average for Ole Miss, but it's still been average for college basketball.

He's probably the best coach in Ole Miss history, but after 12 years you still have to try and do better.

I don't understand how this point is even arguable. They've been mediocre literally every single year under Andy Kennedy other than maybe 12-13 where they were slightly above mediocre.

But like I said, they've almost been impressively mediocre in the sense that they've never really had a bad season. They just have 12 okay seasons.

They are the definition of consistently mediocre. Now, like I said, maybe being consistently mediocre at Ole Miss is an accomplishment in and of itself, but it doesn't change the fact that they've been mediocre.
And sometimes, after a reasonable amount of time it really IS just "time to go in another direction" for renewed interest, excitement boost, new $. 12 years is a good run.

According to ESPN's Jeff Goodman, the Rebels have interviewed Thad Matta about the opening:

Former Ohio State coach Thad Matta is interested in returning to coaching and met with Ole Miss officials on Friday in Oxford, multiple sources told ESPN.

Matta was fired by Ohio State this past offseason, but didn't get back into coaching right away as he tried to get his health in order first.
