It was pure luck. I am an alum of both LSU and Texas A&M. He was on the hot seat before that run and was just able to buy himself a few more years. The only reason they made that run was because of a group of players that grew up in Baton Rouge and were going to go to LSU no matter who was coaching.

Brady has a horrible personality and has pretty much been a jackass from day 1. The last straw was a potshot he took at the football team at LSU.

Also, plenty of reasons to fire him:

-Missing the post-season for two consecutive seasons after making a Final Four appearance.

-Only advancing past the first round of the NCAA twice in 11 seasons

-Never making three consecutive NCAA tournament apperances

-The majority of the fanbase can't stand him

-LSU can never go more than 8 deep due to players transferring (Brady running them off) is another reason

Also, no way in hell I want Bob Knight at LSU. He's a shell of what he used to be.......

I'm rooting for Grant at VCU or Drew at Baylor.

I would root for Grant, I think the jury is still out on Drew's coaching ability, definitely not his recruiting however

Bobby Knight is a perfect fit!

grant is probably the best choice.

drew has to be interesting to them because he can recruit LA and Texas.

grant has a higher ceiling than drew imo.

but drew has shown he can recruit and the sec west would be an great place to play 10 of your conference games if you have a bunch of talent.

I wonder if this affects their recruiting. Then again, I am not sure if any of their '09 recruits are worth looking at. Tommy Mason-Griffin is one I might be interested in, but we seem to be set at PG for this year and will likely not take one in this class.

Brady was one of those "just roll the balls out" coaches

TMG is a take all the way, regardless of the # of PGs already on the roster.

I think Penders would be a great fit

I doubt Knight will coach anytime soon and perhaps never again. He is tired.

BCG is a great coach. There is no reason for you to bash Turgeon in making that point.

If Brady was a "just roll the balls out" type coaches and they didn't like him there is no way they will like Drew. The guy simply doesn't have an offense. But man he can recruit.

Your obsession with protecting BCG's good name is getting kinda creepy. Everyone knows Knight kicked his a** at A&M.

The guy couldn't seem to shave or comb his hair consistently while making all that cash...he may be under a bridge on I-10 when the money runs out.

In all seriousness, he seemed to get a lot of talent, then have an inordinate amount of flunkies, transfers, etc. He was never able to really sustain things. LSU can have a very good program with in-state talent if they can get the right coach, but I doubt it will be a "name" coach, but rather a rising mid-major type coach.

Just to set the record straight, during BCG's tenure, he was 3-3 against Knight. When reciting Knight's "domination" of BCG, people only recall BCG's final season. While the year before, we beat tceh twice (including a 16 point blowout in Lubbock), and in BCG's first season, we beat tceh at home by 20+ points (and tceh was ranked #16 at the time).
