yes, MT shouldn't have had those 10 turnovers in the post on a team dominated by post players. How dare him?

Thank you roscoe! I was about to post the same thing. 3-3 against knight with 2 or those 3 losses coming by 2 points isn't exactly getting the s*** kicked out of you.

Just goes to show that the expectations for head coaches these days is pretty high. I believe LSU was plagued by injuries this year. Injuries are no longer an excuse. You've got to find a way to win. And I believe winning is the bottomline for most schools... I don't think Brady's personality had much, if anything, to do with the firing.

If he'd been at A&M, he'd been given at least 4 more yrs to get it turned around. After all he went to the Final Four just two years ago so it's totally unreasonable to think he couldn't coach.

I'm a little confused.....from everything I've ever heard on texags, you should NEVER fire a coach midseason for performance reasons. Seems like some schools think differently...

Don't forget the legions of posters on TexAgs who thought good ol' Melvin Watkins just needed "more time" after FOUR years of blatantly obvious, massive holes in his coaching prowess.

Can you even imagine the gnashing of teeth if somebody had actually canned him after four years, much less two? And I must have missed the Final Four appearance for Melvin.

The point is that when it's obvious, it's time. It doesn't really a difference if it's two years, three or four. It's a concept lost at TexAgs where success is always just around the corner no matter the sport, no matter the coach, no matter how bad things appear to everybody but the eternal pool of maroon-glass-wearing-KoolAid-drinking TexAgs posters who just can't face reality.

XL2WIN you know as well as anyone there weren't legions of posters on the basketball board back then. I don't remember anybody sticking up for him after the 0-16 year.

The legions were MUCH smaller but we still had the eternal defenders of Melvin and, before him, Tony Barone. By the end of his SIXTH season, the 0-fer finale, most of those had finally wised up. But even a 4th grader could see it by then.

My point was that MANY TexAgs posters will stick with an ugly situation LONG after it's past obvious that it isn't working out. They attack, often personally, those that call for change and almost always attack the loyalty and motivations of those that dare speak up. "No AgTag" and similar simpleton statements are the cloak behind which they hide.

Turgeon has done a good job. It's clear he thinks he's under duress (the "can't win" statement). He's clearly changed his approach, making strong D a bigger part of his game plan. The fact that he's willing to adjust is a HUGE statement on his behalf.

I don't think turgeon is under duress anymore at least not like he was during those first four conference games.

He has made huge adjustments. Much like bcg at uk, we are seeing what a good coach can do when he gets the team to buy into his coaching and execute.

During this win streak the team has trailed at the half or late in the game three times (twice on the road). The fact that they have been able to overcome these deficits has shown that everyone is coming together.

Barring a collapse against okielite, this team will go into austin with a ton of momentum.

Agreed that the level of duress has diminished greatly. A lot of that has to do with MT's changed attitude towards defense. We still suffer in 3pt shooting which is currently our biggest offensive vulnerability but we've compensated by playing the old-fashioned tough D that elevated this program. It's a good match that's working very well. Sloan's development is coming along nicely and the confidence of the team is visibly higher by several quantum levels.
