Harry, sounds like you are typing your name into the main search box. This will return post that CONTAIN your username, including posts you edit because they say "edited by Harry...".

To search for your own posts, type your name into the username field, but leave the main search box blank.

Let me know if you have any trouble.

not officially, but here is a work around... set the date drop-down to forever and enter your search like this...

for all posts including "search" and "sucks" between new years and valentines of this year:

+date:[20120101 TO 20120214] +search +sucks

or for all posts including the phrase "search sucks" in the year 2011:

+date:2011???? +"search sucks"

Sometimes phrase searches work a little unexpectedly do to the way the search engine behaves with incidental words (ex: the, it, this, that, etc.). It's a trade off between exactness and speed.

Concerning the other issue of posts taking days to show... I see what you are talking about. They should show up within minutes. I will investigate further when back in the office monday.

as referenced above, it does appear as if the index stopped updating on the 8/22. i will look into this tomorrow.

other than that, a search of your posts appears to functioning correctly.

I was able to get the search engine back up and running this morning. It has started to catch back up, but I have it throttled to a fairly conservative pace as to not negatively affect the boards performance any more than necessary.

I suspect it will catch back up to real time by the end of the day.

maybe sooner than that. it is working at about 6 entries a second. it has about 85,000 to catch up on.

Sorry I haven't yet been able to update the interface for the search to include these items; however, both are curently possible following these examples:

TO SEARCH FOR TOPICS STARTED BY A USER:

type the desired username in the username box
type "type:T" (without the quotes) in the main seach box

TO SEARCH BY TOPIC TITLE ONLY:

type "+type:T" in the main search box
type whatever search term you are looking for in the same box, but with a plus in front of it. for example, the following will find the current thread:

+type:T +search +function

resetting... should catch up in the next hour or so. we have a failed drive on the search server that I believe is causing the issue. scheduling a repair.

the search still has a couple bugs that I have not been able to resolve. this will, on occasion, result in it not being completely up to date.

i'm working on it.

a search for the post above showed up in results in less than 10 minutes. this is how it should work most of the time.
