How are you tracking your macros?

App?
MacroFactor, paid app but the best I've seen.

How does it compare to something like MyFitnessPal?

Gotcha. I saw my fitness pal is charging for different things now.

I'll have to check that one out

Damn, I didn't weigh myself Jan 1 but so far I'm only down about 5 or 6 lbs. I have started tracking calories and macros for the first time in a long time though, and feel like I am forming habits that can last me a long time. Congrats to those of you who have made more progress!

Going on a ski trip next week and will get "wet" on that, but planning to try to keep drinking down after that, especially during the week.

I am GarlandAg? Down 5-6 lbs as well, started tracking for the first time in a while using MacroFactor, and have definitely built some new habits based loosely on 75 Hard.

Have a ski trip coming up in a little under two weeks and that's when I'm jumping off the dry train. But have the same plan of eliminating during the week.

One thing I really like about it is that it uses your weight ins and food log to calculate your daily calorie burn, rather than you trying to estimate it yourself. It also uses some nice smoothing on your data which helps avoid the boom and bust cycle of daily weigh ins. One day you lose 2 lbs, the next you gain 1.5 lbs etc etc. It estimates your "true" body weight with a smooth moving average of your weigh ins. Then, as you go, it adjusts your recommendation for calorie consumption based on how fast you lose or gain and what you log for food.

Haven't used MFP in a long time, it may do that too. I remember it being a lot more basic.

MFP charges for a lot of things now.

Might as well try your app.

Dry Jan hasn't been bad at all, shifted to reading instead of drinking in the evenings. My thought now is to partake on vacations and holidays, avoiding the "oh what a stressful day at work, time to pour a few to relax" mentality that crept up big time last year.

This was easier than I expected but mostly because my wife can't drink either. Last year I fell out on Jan 29th when we went out to dinner but this year we've made it!

I've had a few close calls but managed to stick to it. Bought a 12 pack of NA beer to give me the sensation of a drink.

Congrats

Wife is due in August and I just signed up for a 30k trail run in March.

I think never drinking alone, and only with other people is a big step for me

What I learned from failing dry January? You can get still drink in moderation and drink occasionally.

It doesn't have to be an all or nothing ordeal, for some people it may.

Focus on other things in the evening if you had a stressful day at work. Learn guitar, take on a new hobby, models are pretty cool, puzzle with the wife, etc.
