I'm in.

I typically drink a bottle of red wine daily, 4 days a week.

One week down.

Well I was having more bourbon than I probably should nightly…..but didn't have those issues so far. Yay! I'm not an alcoholic.

However, this weight isn't flying off like the user above mentioned.

I need to drink way more water and keep exercising.
I'm a bourbon guy also and I've done well so far, only the one planned drink on my wedding anniversary - Jan. 2. Haven't lost weight but energy levels are definitely up and sleeping through the night. Surprised the sleep improved that quickly.

I'm in.

My drinking has slowed down significantly over the past few years, but poured it on through the Thanksgiving, Christmas and NYE holidays.

going damp January. going to limit my drinking to the weekends only. I don't drink a ton (imo), but I normally have a drink or two most weeknights while cooking dinner. I am going to try and not do that this month and see how it goes.

I appreciate the offer, I'm doing pretty well all things considered. Her husband and I are getting together this afternoon to chat and solve the world's problems.

That is what we are doing. Went out for a nice steak dinner to celebrate a new business, one kid heading back to college and one kid getting settled back in Dallas.

Decided I would be damned if I was going to have a nice fancy dinner and not have a bottle or 2 of nice wine to go with it. So we did.

Back on for the rest of the month!

Ha! We broke down last night and had some wine with a fire. It's too cold to pass up that memory! We will be good to push through to February now.

I did 100 days last year and I lost 30lbs, slept and felt great, and was much more productive at work and around the house.

Going for another 100 and perhaps a dry '24.

Difficult because I'm in the booze business, but not impossible.

Good luck to all!

I work for a spirits manufacturer. I'd prefer to not get more detailed than that - it's a small industry.

Out of curiosity, how much were y'all drinking? For these effects, it sounds like y'all were getting hammered every night.

The thing is that it isn't necessarily just about the alcohol. It's the alcohol in addition to making poor dietary decisions (that burger at the bar/drive through looks good) coupled with poor sleep and which makes everything worse. Good sleep is incredibly underrated.

People drink too much. It Happens.

That's why they are trying to attempt a dry challenge.

No need for the shame.

I have insomnia and severe sleep apnea. Couple that with too much alcohol and it's a slippery slope.

CPAP and no alcohol is a great night of sleep and way more rested for the next day. Energy up and work out more.

Agree with the other couple responses.

The peripheral habits are huge to me. We (wife and I both) tend to slip into working really long hours and then getting home tired and stressed. Go out to eat and have a few drinks or order in and have a few. The restaurant food is a huge part of the potential weight lose I suspect for many. I actually find that I have less desire to go to many of my favorite restaurants if I am not going to also have the drink I like there. I actually don't think I have lost a bunch of weight (not really checking) but I can tell a bit a difference in how clothes feel/fit.

One of the things I like about Dryuary is that , for us, it kind of resets eating in a little bit too.

As far as drinking in general. Rarely would I ever say I was getting hammered. But habits can be such slippery slopes. A glass of wine while making dinner become a second while eating, then a third while relaxing before bed. Not every day, but I definitely see it increase through the year for me.

In past Dryuaries I really noticed a psychological component that I called "being done working." As a self employed person, I never get to leave work. There is always something to do. So having a drink would kind of be the off switch for the day. Every other time I have done it, I noticed that missing. This year, for some reason I have not. Has really felt pretty easy not to drink. Guess that is good. Though, not really planning on going all year.....

Trust me, no shame was meant, and I apologize if any offense was taken. Like I said, just curious about where everyone is coming from. I definitely understand how getting loaded turns into a big UberEats Taco Bell order.

I love a cold beer, but I rarely, if ever, drink at the house unless having people over. However if we are having a party/bbq/etc, I rip beers like it's going out of style. I usually stick to beer because I drink bourbon and wine like beer and it can get away from me if not paying attention.

I apologize for the response.

Can definitely agree on getting drunk and waking up to food on the doorstep the next morning.
