T&P for your next 3-4 days. If you make it that far it's all downhill after. The carb detox is worse than missing a few servings of EtOH a day.

In. One of the downsides of being on the wrong side of my 40s is acid reflux when I have more than a couple of drinks. The more I drink the worse it is. Hoping a month off will reset that.

Yep. Been on that for a few years. Helps most of the time.

I'm really hoping the not drinking helps.

More energy, better sleep and work out more.

Bourbon would keep me up later and lead to snacking

In although any thing like this I always start on the 2nd. I look forward to and always enjoy one last round on January 1st watching bowl games. We always spend the day cooking/eating/drinking/repeating.

Stepped on the scales yesterday and I'd gained 7lbs since the week before Christmas. This morning I checked and managed to tack on 1.7 more yesterday

Today sucks!

Gonna give it a try, should make it most of the month with a couple of exceptions - wedding anniversary and son's birthday.......

One of my co-workers said not drinking helps with more energy and better sleep so I wanted to give it a shot. Good luck to all!

To state why - I'm tired of feeling like 10 pounds of s**t in a 5 pound bag.

I'm too close to 50 and need to get my strength back to what it was before I entered slug mode 2 years ago.

My buddy kicked alcohol a few years ago. He said he started having a little sweet tooth at night after he did. You may start experiencing this. A little dessert is better than alcohol so you stay on track!

Wife an I are in. 3rd or 4th year. Not terribly hard, but has started to feel necessary after the holidays. Already noticing the sleep part.

Son (27yo) said he was in and boasted he was going through Feb. Took the Family to the Stars game last night. At dinner he said he was doing "Damp" January instead. His definition of "Damp" was drinking allowed Friday, Saturday and Sunday daytime AND (this was the best part) ANY day that has a sporting event he wants to watch.....SO pretty much every day! So he drank at the game and dinner.....Loser.

Did have a friend last year that did the Damp thing with Damp being just Friday and Saturday. Guess if that works for you it is better than nothing. Seems to me that it just becomes habit and gradually increases through the year. Have really come to almost look forward to Dryuary and definitely save some money on wine and going out to dinner.

Didn't realize we had a thread dedicated to this. I have been good since NYE! Goal is to drop off about 20 lbs before the new baby arrives.
