I nabbed some Skylark syrah earlier

I've made one but and lost out with stuff in my cart 3 times

I just snagged a Syrah

Disappointed in my haul this time around.

My collection is very California cab-heavy so I was looking for some other varietals to round things out a bit. Didn't buy anything on Thursday but on Friday I was a little quicker on the draw and got:

• Two bottles of 2019 Chateau Lynsolence Saint-Emilion Grand Cru
• Two bottles of the 2006 mystery Spring Mountain District red blend
• And then I broke down and bought two bottles of the 2011 Meteor Perseid cab from Napa

Will be curious to see your notes on the meteor. It seems like I see that winery come through every so often but have never pulled the trigger.

Me too. I bought an older persaid and was not impressed for the price. Not bad just not worth the squeeze.

I bought a few bottles of 2018 Meteor Cab Sauv Clone Project Clone 337. I'm always interested in unique and different things people are doing and thought it would be fun to compare this to the Covert Estate Clone 337/191 that's grown a mile or so away.

I also wanted more food friendly wines but ended up with only a few cabs or cab blends.

I think that's what prompted me to buy. Meteor always shows up on the LB Marathon and I figured I'd take a chance since I've liked Coombsville cabs in the past.

Went to a new-to-us wine bar yesterday in Fulshear -- Vino Veritas.

Funky place in an old house. Decent wine list: Flights, bottles and by the glass. On Sundays, their remaining by-the-glass opened bottles are $5 a pour ... can't beat that. Charcuterie board was pretty good, if a bit pricey. Comfortable seating with sofas and plush chairs.

It's a bit of a haul for us, but we'd go back.

This champagne was bone dry…well rounded though for being brut nature! 80/20 Chard Pinot. I got a lot of salinity on the finish. Like a morning bun on the front.

The Fiano is bolder than I thought it would be. To me this one in particular sits right between Pinot Grigio and Albarino. It's got quite a bit of ripe fruit on it.

Many years ago De Negoce had a deal on Blackbird labeled wines and I got a case of the different labels for like $20/bottle or thereabouts. Wish I would have bought 10 cases as it was great and unbearable value.

I had a 2022 Blackbird Arise (Bordeaux-style blend) at a restaurant over the weekend and it was great. Everyone that shared the bottle loved it. And that's their low-end offering ... I think the retail is around $40-$50.

Interesting this just came back up. Last bottle did a "fill your case" special is you had less than 12 from the marathon and had some 2017 Contrarian for $53/bottle.

Well I am trying to order more from them so please leave some for me. They told me to wait until today.

I bought my 3. I've purchased every vintage except 2020, but have only opened one 2019 so far.

What! Since when?

Got the email a few days ago and accepted their offer immediately. I only had 7 bottles from the marathon so if you already had a full case, or didn't buy anything in the marathon, you probably wouldn't have received the email.

I had 10 bottles…I guess they just don't like me

I would but I have too much wine. I'm scaling way back and I already have the Maybach from this vineyard/vintage. If it wasn't in a 3 pack, I'd grab one. In fact, the whole 3 pack things kills me…except MacDonald.

Damn, my condolences.

Going to Napa next month during harvest and have 12 open slots left on the schedule. Looking for a must-visit winery somewhere in the Carneros-to-St. Helena corridor.

Bonus points for exceptional Pinot Noir, but really looking for one of two things:

Incredible wine I'm not too concerned about the tasting fee as long as it's not outrageous, and/or
A genuinely unique harvest experience something beyond a standard tasting if there's an opportunity to see what's actually happening during harvest

Would love any recommendations.

Also, the 2 I'm currently considering adding are Failla and Mending Wall so any specific feedback on those two would be appreciated.

We're big fans of Beaulieu. Good tasting, great wines, reasonable price. Far Niente has a great cave tour.

If you're willing to get outside of that corridor, I'd recommend looking into Paloma, Pride Mountain, Buehler, or Keenan in that order. Paloma for us is absolutely our favorite wine. Buehler is great wine and family run. It's also where I proposed so it's a soft spot for me.
Krupp Brothers tasting room in downtown Napa is another great stop. Tastings are pricey but they comp them with a bottle or two purchase and it ends up costing about the same.

What dates will you be in Napa?

Del Dotto was my all-time favorite. Did it about 10 years ago at their original location. We walked around and tapped into various barrels. The tour ended in a dining hall where we had a lobster roll from the French Laundry.

Not sure they do this anymore but would recommend you look into it and don't let money get in the way.
