I posted a question on champagne in the March timeframe if you search on this forum.

Perrier Jouet is not only a fantastic champagne it is an absolutely beautiful bottle and gift presentation. If someone presented you a PJ bottle you would have a wow factor.

Dom Perrignon is nothing special but a name in my opinion. Not bad just so many better options out there.

The hotel gifted us a bottle of Ruinart when we arrived. Not the Dom label but the Brut label. Rather enjoyed it.

The Raphet Chambertin showed well tonight. Also has some Leflaive Macon Verze by the glass for 19e.

It's always crazy to see French lists at reasonable prices and then compare how outrageous our prices in the states are. I'm guessing the tariffs will make them worse next year.

There's a lot of fantastic grower champagnes out there. The problem is finding a distributor willing to bring it here because the quantities are smaller.

Is this a mail-order club? If so, do you mind sharing the name? I may be interested.

I haven't been able to find one since, but living outside Victoria doesn't offer you much.

Yup it's We drink bubbles, from what it looks like Shiloh, the owner, has or her family with a storage facility in Cali.

From the way she talks she is pretty tight with quite a few growers over there.

Fat Cork is another option for grower champagnes

My wife and I were talking over the weekend about just making a trip to Beaune every couple of years to stock up on Burgundy. It's by far my favorite wine region, but it seems like the 1er and Grand Cru wines are getting harder to get in the US without spending a small fortune.

Grower champagnes pop up fairly regularly on Last Bottle and WTSO.

you mean importer, since distributors don't necessarily have that license, and in most cases don't. Adds to the complication, you need an importer that will work with the grower/producer and then they need a distribution partner.

went to a tasting last night with a very small champagne producer. less than 3,000 bottles of their flagship vintage champagne made in the years that they make it. Not even a spoilage quantity in comparison to Dom or other huge labels.

We went to hospice de Beaune last weekend and stayed at an air bnb.

We have been in St Emilion all week staying at Hotel de Pavie.

Off to Marrakech tomorrow.

Lots of options that you can't really find in the US and they will ship to you, it's totally worth it and the town is great.

I really like the town. The food options are great, and I can spend hours going through the wine shops there.

For sure, lots of cool bottles and old burgundy you just never see in the states. I feel the same way about st emilion wine shops and they lets you taste so many bottles before You purchase.
