So I turn to the wisdom of the TexAgs Wine board as I need HELP!

My wife over the last two years has developed a reaction, possibly allergic, to red wine and has left us with an abundance of wine we will never get to. What is the best place to sell this stuff? Most of it is young, 2015 or so, some of it is higher end so selling bottle by bottle is probably better. Anyone know where or how to do this?

Thanks!
What's your drinking plan, are you yourself never going to drink red wine again? Personally, I would get a good Coravin if you don't already have one and use that to deplete the supply as you see fit. That, plus only buying rose or white for a while, should help you out. I love my Coravin.

If that's not a good sounding option, and you are local to one of the Texas hubs, I am sure some of the ags on here would be more than happy to buy you out at a fair price.

I am in Frisco.

I was also looking for a resource to price the wine. Is it reasonable to look for the prices that are advertised on these secondary market sites? How much of a discount off that is reasonable for private retail?

The last time I bought wines from a bulk private sale they priced them at 20% below the prevailing internet price if available for in person pickup.

Are you talking about a collection that's 50-100 bottles of "nice" type wine or hundreds of bottles including major high end collectable juice?

I don't have a direct contact in DFW but would guess some of the private wine clubs could be a resource. If it's something on the larger and more collectible side I know Benchmark buys full cellars and will give you a quote over email in a few days.

I'm in a wine group on Facebook that has some folks in the metroplex that would probably be interested int the lot.

They type of wine will depend on what you do.
DRC ultra premium stuff
Napa Cult
Euro gems
Duck horn and silver oak

Lots of definitions of good wine.
Share a list of some of the wines with no prices. That'll help and be a start.

I've seen people list on Wine Berserkers at 10% off lowest wine-searcher prices as common practice in the past. I've got wines that I want to part with that I've thought about doing that with, especially considering prices these days! Good luck.

I think Napa Cult would probably be the right definition?

4 bottle of Hundred Acre
13 various bottles of Realm
10 bottles of Myriad (Mostly single vineyard beckstoffer stuff)
5 Alpha Omega Single vineyard stuff
Blankiet
Bond

A ton of other random assortment of Euro's and various things picked up over the years but nothing worth more than $100 a bottle I would think

I probably can't take the whole thing, but would definitely be interested in some of the specific ones you listed as well as some of the "others". Local to DFW

We opened this fun wine tonight. Good fruit, tannin, and acid, but I'm having a hard time finding a wine to compare it to. We bought it in our last trip to Paso before the world shut down and spent a good amount of time chatting with the winemaker at Paso Underground.

Definitely an interesting and unique blend! I've had Carignan a few times but not sure what it's been blended with when I have. Carignan is definitely a tough grape for me to put a bucket on as well, just an all around middle of the road red, mix of multiple spectrums depending on the source and style.

Having a rose of Pinot noir tonight. I like it, but my wife is kind of tired of pinot rose wines. She is much more into other varietal roses. We had a Sonoma Valley Grenache rose that was stellar this week…and I am also thinking that a lot of Pinot noir rose fall closely to one another in terms of body/acid/fruit. What do y'all think regarding rose wines? Any preferred styles or grapes for it? Regions?

Yesterday's lineup ( not from my cellar, that would be silly).

Riley makes some interesting wines. She has her own facility in Tin City now.

Provence is it's home, and I prefer wines from there. Pinot roses always taste one-dimensional to me.

you can sell that at a near to wine searcher price, I would think, especially Hundred Acre and Bond, depending on the vintage and specific wine for Bond.

Blankiet is so pricey, might be tougher.

For a fuller rose, I like Italian cerasuolo. They're very different from Provence but tend to have more depth of flavor than you find in new world rose.

Dakota Shy makes a cab sauv rose that I like a lot. And Detert makes a cab franc one that is really good as well.

How is Pulido Walker? It's been recommended a couple of times to go visit them. We are going in July with another couple and trying to fill out our itinerary.

The wine is excellent, but it came in last in the tasting. They were all very close though, as a few votes separated first from last.

I love Oregon Chardonnay. Have had Pinot from Bethel Heights before but not any of their Chardonnay, bet it was great.

Cheers y'all. We are having this Alexander valley mountain fruit cab tonight. Would add more tasting notes but it was opened yesterday for a glass and I woke up today with a head cold so I'm definitely off on my normal senses. Not letting this one go to waste though!

agree, can be so tasty and usually so much cheaper than a good Provence rose (and there are many, many flavorless Provence roses flooding the market)

I don't drink Pinot rose, although I've had some good one. much prefer grenache based rose usually.

How's the liquidation going? I had a lot of luck here selling bottles at cost so you may want to list your inventory and contact info (or just contact info for everyone to reach out privately). I may be doing it again soon. Just gotta dig everything out of the locker.

Honestly I haven't had a lot of time to be on Texags or do something with the bottles yet, but I think I am just going to list them in this thread first and see if anyone wants them and then go track down other forums and groups after this first shot.

I like 10% off the low values on the retail sites as a starting point. I am not listing my Realm Absurd at cost when I paid $300 for it and lowest retail is $1100 lol

Edit: also positive that will be the last bottle that will sell!

I guess Absurd has achieved it's name!

I've got a 2015 I'd be glad to trade for Bdx or more traditional Napa if anyone's interested.

Probably going to be extras of Cali wines: Myriad, Piper, Detert, SQN, etc. Nothing crazy.
