"Today, we showed the resolve of the United States. Today we made a statement to the world... That you can hit us, you can knock us down, but we're gonna get up. And when we do, we will find you and kick your ass!" - Robert E Clark II, Cpt USN, Commandant of Midshipmen May 1, 2011
had 2010 Beaux Freres "Beaux Freres Vineyard" last night. young still, but lots of cherry. left about 1/3 in the decanter on the counter. will try again tonight.
Hobel arrived today. Now I just need to figure out where to put it. Anyone wanna buy some wine so I can make room? I just can't drink it all fast enough.
After Katrina, Brennan's restaurant had to have an expert come sample and assess whether the wines in their cellar were good or ruined for insurance purposes.
BSD... do you need an "expert" to come sample your wines? I offer my services, sir.

That stuff is incredible! Only have one bottle left, but going to visit them again next weekend so will buy more if they have it!
Only have one bottle of Hobel Cab but since it's our only one and it's 2009 obviously it won't be opened any time soon. I can only assume it's awesome, as with pretty much anything else TRB puts his hands on!
They are pretty awesome people. David is in a band out there but I always miss nights they play since we are there on weekdays. They do a lot of the fundraisersin Napa.
I was supposed to be in Santa Rosa this weekend but got sick and cancelled. Oh well. I was there twice in October so skipping a month won't hurt too badly.
Yep, we were fortunate that "Cheers! St. Helena" was going on this summer when we were out there and got to hang out and check out David's band. Scotty down at Silenus is the drummer in the band, super guy too. David and I talked musician crap for a good while, we had a blast!
You're right, that is a tough question! My cellar is 70% Cabernet so my favorites will tend to trend that way.
River Marie Chardonnay is by far my favorite white. Thomas Brown (owner/winemaker) also makes the Maybach chard from the same vineyard which I have never had, but just got my first bottle this week and will probably drink over the holidays.
For the reds:
Realm To Kalon Cab
All the Pott wines (and his Seven Stones)
Maybach Materium Cab
From a value standpoint, Myriad and River Marie Napa bottlings are a must every year. And I'm pretty sure that once I start opening the Scarecrow and Schrader I'll be adding those to the list.
Funny that you mention Fantesca, they left me a message yesterday. It seems I haven't ordered this year.
The scarecrow and Schrader will definitely hit the list. My cellar is also 70+ % cab. Realm To Kalon there too. Have you tried Barrett and Barrett or Ausomet. Those hit my wheel house pretty well. Of course Colgin is there too.
The post was lost in the crash, but whomever suggested VonStrasser, thanks! Just picked up two bottles of the 2008 Cab at Spec's with a 5% discount for a Spec's Card. Will likely drink one in the near future and cellar the other.
Can someone point me to website where I can get historical region grades and/or specific wine grades? Total Wine publishes this in their catalog, I just don't have one handy.
