Both my local Spec's and Total Wine in Fort Worth have had BT products a lot more regularly than in the past but they still limit them to one bottle of each product per purchase

Buffalo trace has been available with no limit at quite a few places in NoCo.

Still waiting for when I can buy Stagg jr off the shelf though.

That's what I was gonna ask. Wild times we are living in when BT is on allocation

Outside of Texas BT is still heavily allocated in some places. Texas is the exception with having cases of Weller and BT sit on the shelf.

Virginia is still1 bottle per day limit and there is a total of 1 bottle available in the Hampton Roads region.

Hell even JD SBBP Rye is allocated in parts of the North East

Are you mad at a few buck difference? People complain about small price differences for a bottle that's giving a lot of drinks, and they spend more than the few bucks of time chasing stuff down.

Lower entry proof is a big part of it. But on top of that, they toast their barrels before charring them. They also age their staves longer than most before building their barrels. They put a lot of emphasis on exactly what you said, getting a lot of flavor in the bottle even at lower proofs.

The other guys already nailed the reasons. I'll just add that the American is one of the best shelfers and tastes the most similar to their 10 year bourbon imo. The shelfer rye is fantastic too.

I guess I misunderstand your reaction to my post (or you misunderstood mine).

I was just quoting the prices on Eagle Rare. I don't hunt for it.

I was buying a bottle of Buffalo Trace and also purchased a bottle of Basil Hayden for the first time. The salesperson asked me if I had ever purchased Eagle Rare. When I replied that I love it but never spot it on a shelf, she said they had a bottle in the back if I wanted it. Of course, I said yes.
