This was my thought as well. I'm gonna refocus on Spec's points. I shopped once at the Lake Worth Spec's and they called me for a bottle of Elmer T. Lee.

Picked up an Old Elk port finish at Costco and I'm a little disappointed. Had this sour taste to it. Really wanted to like Old Elk since it's a Colorado based company that distills its own juice.

It did smell incredible though. Like maple syrup which is weird to say.

I like a lot of port finishes, especially ryes. Definitely worth trying others.

100% worth it. EHTBP level imo. The rye is phenomenal too. I think they're both better than the bourbon.

This might be "Captain Obvious" (I'm relatively new to the Bourbon thread) but Buffalo Trace is showing up at a number of stores - just in time for my Christmas giving.

This week, I found it in Total Wine West Plano (one bottle per day) and Spec's Addison / Dallas.

Just depends on where you shop.

I'm in NE Houston (Kingwood) - the Twin Liquor near me NEVER has any BT labels. My local independent has gotten BT and WSR pretty well always now with the distributor change.

I don't shop Specs frequently, but the last time I went in there at our local, there was plenty of both of those but none of the other BT labels.

all the specs & TW in Houston proper are overflowing with regular ass BT ... never heard of that being dry

even Jones Rd specs which is historically ass, had blantons & ER on their little shelf by the registers last week which came in handy for some client Xmas gifts ... missed Stagg Jr by 20 mins
