Its a low proof very easy drink. I'd say it fills the Basil Hayden role but better.
But way better. For a low proofed, it has good flavor and a bit of richness you don't typically get at that proof point. But the strength as mentioned before, for me, is the nose, so good.
Mine is batch 2 btw. Don't typically buy that low of proof anymore, but it's nice to have around to slow the night down, or survive an Aggie extra innings regional game.

oh i wasn't criticizing it by any means, by its purpose I meant something that you can drink, enjoy and still wake up the next morning feeling good. I love a good BP as much as anyone but there is definitely a place for a lower proof well aged whiskey.
I think that tincup 14 is great, and I usually like high proofs. It reminds me of drinking some of those older 86 proof duties.

Picked up my first Bardstown recently original 96 proof. It's a quality bourbon I'd buy again. Oak and vanilla and caramel. I'm just leaning towards oak and leather and tobacco that comes with the more aged high heat stuff. Only problem is that ****s expensive.
The new origin series is much cheaper than their other stuff.
I believe it's because it's purely their own juice instead of being sourced.

Yep, this origin series is all in house now. They were moving away from the blue label altogether (I forget the name, fusion maybe?). Their regular origin series is the BiB & Wheated, both around $50. Their rye origin is a little bit more, and I haven't tried that one yet.
I haven't seen the Rye yet. Will probably pick it up when I come across it.
Speaking of, is there a website which list the approximate MSRP for every hard to find or allocated bottle?
Bardstown Discovery Series #4 is one of the best bourbons I've ever had. I mentioned that to the master distiller when we were there last year and asked if there was any hidden back anywhere. He just chuckled and said that's their most popular and he gets asked almost daily. I have a Disco 8 I'm sipping on now that I really like and just made an impulse buy of #9 that I haven't cracked yet.
You should try #11 if you can find it. It's been put up against RR13 and CNF and held its own
