What is the retail for Blanton's? I believe the guy told me they were going $160 but the owner had just gotten that batch in & wanted to try a special deal on them.

Yep, Spec's had it yesterday, and I passed. I didn't think I'd do that at MSRP.

Bought Blantons at the BT distillery about 2 months ago for $63.

Use to be $54 at Fort Hood. It was just the bottle and netting. No box or bag.

Those materials must really drive up the cost

Sort of. The problem is cost. Too small a barrel and the angels will suck it dry fast. So you need a 10+ gallon, probably 15+ gallons by the look of the barrel in the pic.

10g is 37.8L/1.75L * $60 = $1,300. + cost of barrel, ~$320. All before tax. So roughly $1,750 as a side project.

If, you know, were to do the math. Also roughly the same if you went Benchmark Full Proof.

I guess you stopped pouring.

I picked up that EW today as well.

The EW looks good.

I picked this up after seeing it on Brewzle. It makes a great old fashioned. Very unique flavor. I like it about as much as Buffalo Trace, but it is twice the price.

I picked up a bottle of Jeptha Creed RWB at Oak Liquor Cabinet yesterday. If you're looking for something a little funky and different, this is for you. It's got this earthiness and bright red fruit that comes through, and the caramel and vanilla takes a back seat. It's like this is a bourbon for aged rum drinkers. This isn't for everyone, and at $79, most people aren't going to take a leap of faith on something different. But the owner of the store told me I'd like this, and he wasn't wrong.

Love stories like that. I've spent more money on random bottles in the last few years than i care to admit. Some have paid off, some are straight drain pours but its cool to see a recommendation pay off.

Doing a google search on it, it certainly is a unique mash bill. Im guessing a lot of the flavors you are getting is due to the malted rye and barley. Have you had the Jack Triple Mash and if so how do they compare?

I have not. It was just sitting in a box on the floor. I didn't see any of the other SKUs on the shelf.
