The Garrison Brothers cask strength barrels have a very high angel's share. This pick will only yield 48 bottles and will be about $145. Which is a great price for GB CS.

I was able to order DFW area.

So Belle Meade Cask Strength Reserve was my favorite readily available bottle. I loved it. My posting history shows it. For $55-$60, you could not beat it. And then they rebranded it and bottled it at 108.8 proof but kept the same price point. Out of principle, I have not bought it since that occurred. Today at Total Wine, I saw they had dropped the price from $56 to $42. 25% from original price. Figured this was the time to give it a shot and grabbed a bottle. It's fine. It's good. But damn if it just does not hit like that 125 proof that the cask strength used to deliver. I so wanted it to be ALMOST as good, and it just isn't. Not bad for $42, but just isn't the same.

Yep, I have two bottles coming to me. Shipping to my office so maybe that helped.

Anyone else been tasting older Stagg Jr vs new Stagg? I feel like the older batches are smoother/more flavor than recent ones. For a bourbon that hovers around 130 proof the newer versions seem younger to me.

I tried jr a few years ago and didn't like it. Too harsh for my taste. Tried the the new stag a week ago and thought it was just as bad.

TW in CS currently has Penelope Rio & OF 10-Yr. Limit one but had good stock.

Picked up a Rio at TW in Plano Thursday. One of my favorite pours. I know Penelope is all MGP, but I really enjoy several of their offerings. The Rio, Valencia, 9yr Barrel Strength, and 15yr Light American have all been very enjoyable

Heard a lot of mixed feedback on the OF 1924 so will have to see soon if not tonight.

I really enjoyed it. Not the typical OF mashbill, but it's a flavorful pour at 100 proof.

Good to know. Came across some Larceny BP last week and this stuff has been great.
