What is the difference in this bottle compared to one you see at Spec's, TW, TL, etc? Is this like TexAgs doing a barrel pick as opposed to the distillery just bottling single barrels? It's probably my favorite bourbon, although I haven't had near the selection everybody on here has had.

Yes, this one with the gold is a store/barrel pick. They can vary and tend to have a stronger fruit note or that WT funk (in a good way)

The other one on shelves is just the single barrels the distillery pick, and they are all good and very consistent but don't wow like the barrel selects.

Not exactly sure. I have a guy up North who gets random bottles and ships them around the US. Once in a while I will get a bottle from him. Couldn't pass up on this bottle.

Knob Creek 12 is kind of a weird bottle to get. I think it's hard to get from store to store, as in you won't find it at a lot of stores, but when you do find it that store will have quite a few bottles. I could be wrong on this, but that's my interpretation.

It's a really great, complex whiskey. I think it's got a ton going on while continuing to carry that traditional Jim Beam nuttiness that they are known for. It might be one of the best whiskeys for the price right now.
