Yeah those barrel proof SiBs are my favorite too. I don't really buy their stuff though because I have a lot of bottles from volunteering over the years.

But yeah, the small batch has come down $10 or more from $89. The SiBs used to be like $120 and now they're like $99.

Crazy how many bottles now are in the $50-$100 price range. Dang near half the shelf at stores is in that range. It is funny though because Rare Breed at $48 is better then 95% of those bottles in that range.

Finally tracked down a Kentucky Peerless Double Oak earlier this week. Been looking for quite a while, paid ~$80 at Spec's.

Early favorite this year. Just cracked it tonight and fighting the urge to go for a 3rd pour already. Unreal, such a unique bourbon.

Seems a bit polarizing in the reviews I've read. Nothing like WRDO, much more dark chocolate and leather. Incredible mouthfeel and a warm, mild finish. Lacking the complexity I expect in this price range, but I like it enough to want to get a 2nd bottle anyway.

That's a good one! I bought it last year touring the distillery. It was our favorite from the tasting and they didn't sell in Texas at the time. Good to see it on the shelves now.

The basic $80 GB single barrel was enough to ruin it for me. Only bottle I've ever dumped down the drain.

I like that quite a bit. Just got one recently. Maybe I should grab another while they're still available.

I started drinking bourbon 20 years ago because it was a cheaper alternative to scotch and a 27 dollar bottle of ER was all i could afford. It is crazy how expensive some of these bottles have become but i guess it is a product of a bunch of new smaller distilleries and the secondary market.

You are right that there are a ton of good bottles under that are still somewhat affordable. Rare Breed, 1920 etc. are all great. Hopefully as the stocks of stuff increases in the next few years more things will come back down to earth.

20 years ago Van Winkle 10 was my Jame at $30. 12 @$40 and me splurging was 15tr @50. BATC was $80/ea and that was a stretch...and I had multiple annual horizontal. But no one would partake with me.

So I sold an epic horde in 2009 on ebay to afford stainless for brewing.

Wish I had all those bottles back. Still have a few unopened. But the horde is long gone.

I believe social media made bourbon fashion.

Our dads and grandad's weren't running to Facebook or instagram with a bottle of XYZ trying to flip it or do some crazy review. The Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) really does a number to people online. Guilty as charged…
