Hot, but tasty. I don't normally go for rye but I'm enjoying it quite a bit.

Okay so my mom's boyfriend's sister is the publicist for Ryan Bingham of Yellowstone fame. She chatted me up earlier in the week knowing I'm a whiskey enthusiast.
Long story short, she's wondering how she should market Ryan's new whiskey and I told her I'd ask some people the same questions she asked me. If you wouldn't mind filling out this form (4 questions) that'd be helpful.

He's got an 80 proof and a 94 proof. It's pretty good, but it's everything most Texas whiskeys are - spicy and oaky. The 94 proof is a little smoky, too.


Edit: to go into more detail, she's wondering if she should market the Persedo C.R.A.F.T. method of "polishing" a whiskey (invented by an Aggie, btw). Gentle Ben uses the same method if you've ever tried that.

I would be selling everything if you are speculating. Flood of product coming out. I got a stagg and cracked it last month. I am not a fan of the recent batches. The one I got is very sweet and has a hot finish for sure. Not complex at all.

Single barrel is all I've seen so far

I've seen the standard lineup on shelves.

One store I was at recently had single barrel bourbon and rye, as well as bib bourbon and the standard rye offering.

I picked up a bottle of New Riff Single Barrel Barrel Proof yesterday (I've always wanted to try it), is it usually a good pour?

The 5 we tasted were all over the map. Not consistent at all. I won't be buying that bottle.
If there is a specific pick that someone vouches for, maybe.

I really like their Malted Rye. Hope it makes the Texas shelves.

Yeah. It's pretty tasty for a low proofer if you like 95/5 MGP rye. You can't find American ryes at that age statement anymore but the price tag for what it is hurts a bit.

Yeah that was a hard pass for me. Had it been a higher proof point it would have been more tempting. I'm not spending what that costs msrp for a 14 year rye at 90 proof.

It's easily Angels Envy Rye for me.

I always have a bottle of 4 Roses small batch select, 1920 and Rare Breed. I would also include Russell's single barrel (I also enjoy the 10 year).

I generally have a handful of those in my cabinet at any given time and never tire of them in terms of bang for the buck. RIP to my favorite go to of all time, Belle Meade Cask Strength Reserve. I still mourn the loss of that one.
