Liquor stores in Asheville when I visited my sister made it a hard NO on ever moving there. I couldn't even get bitters or sweet vermouth.
Asheville is an amazing spot. I would retire there.

Most of y'all doing the various TexAgs bottle releases?

I think I'm buying 6ish bottles in the next couple months.

Pretty happy tbh, I think that should have me set for a while.

Are there some of y'all that will go through it in less than a year?

6 bottles is only 80 two oz drinks.
That's one pour every 4.5 days for a year.

When i came out to VA to interview/look around one thing i did was check the stock at the local stores. EHT and ECBP were both being readily available on the self at the time probably factored more in my decision than it should have. Winning a couple of BTAC bottles in the lottery shortly after arriving was nice as well.

Unfortunately that lasted for about 3 months and then with the Covid spike in demand along with the shenanigans i mentioned earlier and I have only found 1 or 2 bottles of EHT since. Got plenty of BT, Blantons, and ER though as well as John Bowman has becoming a pretty good substitute.

I made it y'all . I gave up alcohol for Lent (I'm Baptist lol), but that doesn't mean I didn't buy! Here's my Lent haul. Can't wait to crack one open and have a sip soon.

They love me during my yearly physical. Apparently answering the drinking questions, in order, before they're asked is frowned upon.

Glad to hear. That's the first one I'm gonna crack! I NEVER buy anything I don't plan on opening. This haul doesn't include the TexAgs picks: got 3 of the WTrail, 2 New Riff, and 2 RC. My son will get a bottle of WTrail and RC but the rest are for me and the boys!

You realize Sundays are not "Lent" and anything goes, right?

Yes... kind of. So there are normally around 6 days (Sabbaths) during Lent which are not "included"... to an extent.

Again, I'm not Catholic so I'm just going off stuff I read in the past. But those days aren't really "cheat" days but meant for those fasting or not eating meat etc. ... FROM what I read and extrapolated so I may be REALLY off there.

That being said, I also read that Lent ends of HOLY Thursday. (source)

I usually wait till Sunday starts so Sat night... after midnight, it's all fair game .

The season of Lent ends on Holy Thursday and starts the Paschal Tridium which is another liturgical season. Techincally the penance (or whatever) most Catholics commit to does not "stop" until after the Easter Vigil (or some do it if they attend mass on Sunday). We've always gone to the vigil. And techincally Sundays you penance is not required. (and you don't break it). I've always been lazy and just did mine on Sundays too but each to their own. However they are still part of the Lenten season. (1st sunday of lent, 2nd sunday of lent, etc)

During Lent its fasting and abstience (from meat) on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday and then absitence from meat on all Fridays unless the obligation is removed. (like it was for some Dioceses this year on March 17th)

So you are mostly on point. I'm an RCIA convert so i did not grow up doing all this but learned it during marriage

polished off an entire bottle of Nelson Bro's (Nashville, TN bourbon) Saturday...

I've had some really nice stuff and buy everything rare (reasonably) that I can get my hands on...

That bottle was smooth.. Some of the best bourbon I've had in quite some time... and only ~$45 bottle or so.

In a few weeks I head to Atlanta for a wedding. Can anyone recommend a good bottle shop worth checking out in the area that might have some BT or other novel finds? Thanks.

The ATL bourbon rush is just as bad as the Texas bourbon rush. You're not going to find a honey hole there. I have friends there that have the same problems as us.
