Grabbed a bottle of the Rebecca Creek Spanish Oak and cracked it open. It's solid! Very dark. After sitting and opening up I get maple syrup on the nose. You definitely taste oak, but it's not overpowering. Slight burn at the end. It's like being near a campfire where someone in burning oak, but all the smoke is blowing away from you.

The Small Batch I have, a couple of years old I believe, shies in comparison.

Had my neighbor over tonight who is moving to Fort Worth for a new job. Our kids are best friends and so it is bittersweet that they are leaving.

Figured it was as good a time as any to crack the BT TexAgs pick. We did some damage and it was delicious.

I was thinking of how we can do some good with our recent TexAgs picks. If you weren't able to grab one, I plan on doing a big raffle of some sorts to benefit the Blue Skies Foundation who provide post-mishap support for the Army aviation community and their families.

I plan on donating the following:

TexAgs New Riff Pick, Rebecca CreekPick and the Wilderness Trail Pick.

Wouldn't be until the end of the summer (new riff pick) so I have some time to maybe get a tater bottle thrown in there as well.

If you would like to thrown in something let me know. I did a similar fundraiser for the families of Uvalde and we raised a ton of money.

I have a few buddies in aviation units. The more time I have the more likely I might be able to get some type of Blackhawk memorabilia or something made that can go to the winner along with the bottles of bourbon. Really pay homage to the Blackhawk community and raise more money for the foundation. I'll talk to Blue Skies as well.
