I saw somewhere that Specs in Houston and Austin released inventory of allocated bottles earmarked for restaurants. No limits on them. People walked out with cases. Not sure if true or not. But that's what I heard. Jealous if true.

One individual purchased 10 cases of Weller 12 at just under $160.00 a case. They had a pallet (50 cases) total. Also sold a case of George T Stagg for $600.

I don't remember if it is 3 or 6. Been a long time since I saw a case. I imagine Specs was stocking GTS as individual bottles and the manager referred to a case sold as 6 individual bottles.

Can't believe they wouldn't put them on the shelf and just do a limit 1, or limit 2 type deal.
Selling 60 bottles of Weller 12 to one individual seems crazy.

Wonder how much of the "distribution" was to friends of the people working there that tipped them off to be there at a certain time. I know several of the high priority point people at Spec's aren't too happy. Good for those that got a chance to buy it. right place at the right time...

Agreed. I called my local Specs and they said they don't know when they're doing their wholesale release to public, but they likely will. Seems irritated of course; but didn't give me a timeline at all. I'm sure they'll text buddies and "favorites" first who will then buy up all of it.

Wouldn't it be interesting to have a half hour to walk the stock room at the Specs in Midtown to see what they really are holding?

I was at an unnamed Total Wine last week and standing near a room caddy corner to the entrance. By happenstance I got a peak when the Manager let a couple what I would allege "buddies" back there for their pick of the farm. Got a peak and there was probably 20 bottles of Blantons on a shelf. I asked him directly a few mins later if they had any and to his credit he sold me one but man it's gotta be a part of the underlying problem...

Picked up a bullet blenders select. Pretty tasty. Nice and spicy, lots of vanilla in the nose. Not hot at all at 100 proof. Pretty smooth and creamy finish. Not going to call it exceptional, but it's pretty solid for $50.

Has anyone heard of / tried Ironroot? https://www.ironrootrepublic.com/.

I live in the Dallas metro and want to give them a try as I like to support "local" business. They've suspended some distilling operations in favor of producing hand sanitizer, so all the more reason to support them.

I just heard about them today, so I don't even know (yet) where I can pick up a bottle.

I got to go in the back at the Specs on Bay Area. They had a lot of restaurant barrel picks. Nothing super rare. Had a case of Basil Hayden 10. Grabbed one and a Weller 12. I was really hoping there would be something from the BTAC. I think the majority of the stuff was at the Specs downtown.

I got invited into the back tasting room at a Total Wine. Just total cooincidence. I was shopping for a bottle of cabernet. Wine manager approaches me and asks what I like. He says,"Come with me." He then leads me to a hidden room behind the locked premium wine cellar. He gave me tastes of two wines. I purchased one of them. Interesting experience.
