I had a pour of A.D. Laws Four Grain finished in rum barrels last night, and it may be one of the worst things I've ever tried. I felt bad that a friend paid $70 to bring it to a share.

I'm going to The Republic in a couple weeks...what are the top 4 must-try bourbons? I'm definitely going to try Rock Hill Farms because I've looked for it for 3 years and haven't been able to find it. What else do you recommend?

I got a bottle of their 4 grain (just regular), from a subcontractor.. I don't care for it either. This December will be 3 years since I got it, and I think it's only seen about 5 pours.

It's my understanding that they have one of the largest whiskey selections in the state (heard they were #2 behind some place in Houston) so I think they have most of the bourbons that I can't find in a store. I've talked to a buddy before and he said they have the BTAC's and some others that I'll never see in a store.

I'm generally a sucker for EHT variants (Four Grain, Seasoned Wood, Cured Oak, etc) and old label ECBP. If they have a Black Maple Hill from Kentucky I'd jump all over that as well.

I'd guess they already went through it, but they did get a bottle of the EHT 4G this spring. Definitely worth it if they still have a bottle

I don't think so. I had it SxS with WP15, and I liked WP15 better. I'm not saying I'd pay $200 for that one either, however.

Thanks for the reply. It's about $150 which is high at a liquor store - then I think about bar prices and it makes anything easy to justify. Worth a shot.
