Johnny Drum and Pure Kentucky are both ok for $30 bottles. I haven't seen Johnny Drum for sale in TX but Pure Kentucky is usually pretty easy to find...or at least it used to be...

Ok mid-shelf bourbons. If they're limiting you to one per customer, just go to the next store down the street. None of these are hard to find, except, I think Johnny Drum might be a regional offering, only available in certain states.

Is there anything special about these besides being wax dipped?

It's not a huge store, I trust them when they say small shipment. Also, I appreciate the 1 per customer on mid range bourbons as well. Else you'd have people hoarding.

No that's about $100 over retail. Unreal what W12 will go for.

Those prices are above current secondary market pricing as well. And my suggestion would be to identify a couple of "gettable" preferred bourbons and don't consider W12 and OB R22 as bottles you can easily acquire when needed. They are both difficult to find and are overpriced typically when you do.

But what if someone tells me that Focus will drive like a Corvette if I leave it in my garage and let it "age" for a few months? A "poor man's Corvette" if you will ...

People buying at those prices are like someone watching the world rally championships and seeing someone drive something labeled as a Ford Focus, but in reality its just a carbon fiber body skin on a tube steel and roll cage body with a 400 HP twin turbo 1.9 L handmade engine with nitrous overboost that drinks 110 octane av gas, rally suspension and hydraulic handbreak. And then going to the local Ford dealer, telling the dealer you will gladly pay $50k for the one on the lot that really is $13k because it has the same Ford Badge on it, and then deluding yourself that you are about to drive the Dakar Rally. And then thinking you got a steal of a deal.

This is one of the most beautiful analogies I have ever seen.

I believe EC23 retails for around $250 at the distillery gift shop. If you could talk him down to $275 it might be a win on that. Secondary is between $300-325

Picked up an OF1920 today at Total Wine since everyone is raving about it. Snagged a Blanton's, too.

They had a shelf full of Weller Special Reserve which, oddly enough, is the one Weller I haven't tried. I picked up a 750 and a 1.75, and then brought them home for a family portrait.
