Anyone interested in SAOS cask strength 11 year single barrel for $80 a bottle? I'd be able to get these to Dfw area next weekend.

Found one at specs today. First time I've had it. Great great juice.

Do tell. I'm in Frisco and haven't seen it at any north Dallas area stores.

Parents found it at a mom and Pop near them down in SA.

Congrats Malibu! 7 entries and didn't get called until it was blanton's or w12. Same for my buddy. 2 raffles, 2 blanton's for me. Maybe next year.

Does anyone here have any experience with the Whitmeyer's Single Barrel? One of those showed up in my hospital room last night. The HBS FB group seems to like it, but I'm looking for a more unbiased view. I also received a bottle of Rebecca Creek, so now I know who doesn't like me that much.

I think Whitmeyers is probably the best TX bourbon. I don't care for their naming but I'm just not as familiar. You can only buy 2 bottles per person in their tasting room per month. So I've been there 3x so far. The Blue Label Single Barrel is white dog sourced from KY, but they do the barreling and aging. The White Label Barrel Select is all made in house. Although they do have a local brewery make the distillers beer. Then they do the fermenting, distilling and barreling.

I personally like the Blue Label and I have several if the white labels.

I agree with AlaskanAg. Whitmeyers white label single barrel is by far my favorite Texas whiskey. It's not cheap at about 90 bucks, but I always have a bottle or two at home.

Because of you, I bought some ER10 to make Old Fashions with at an upcoming party. Damn this board.

Recommendation for a gift please. Criteria:

Recipient is new to bourbon, fairly undeveloped palate
Must be very easy drinking (no barrel strength bombs)
Under $50
Easy to come by here in B/CS
Not a standard offering, maybe something a layman may not have heard of.

I'd go with something from 4 Roses.

I'd say Pikesville Rye. Something different, lots of flavor, not too overpowering though in the ABV, and everyone I have introduced to it have loved it. Should be $40-$45

ER is a good all around bourbon for someone new and experienced. It's just a great pour that I hope doesn't go into the hard to find category

Whitmeyer's is good stuff. Blue label is sourced, but barreled, aged and bottled in Houston. White label is distilled, aged and bottled in Houston. Can get any, olus Harvey's Remnants, at Specs now.
