I've got one in the Waco area if needed.
I always check the proofs of JD BP bourbon and rye at every store. Rye's consistently have higher proofs. Picked up a SBBP bourbon yesterday at 135.8. Highest I've ever seen that wasn't a store pick.
I do the same. Don't think i have ever seen 135. I did see a 133.1 rye and 131 whiskey yesterday the the ghetto Specs in Corpus.
What can y'all tell me about Ironroot Republic? My in-laws recently moved to Denison and Ironroot is just down the road from their new neighborhood. Any particular product of theirs y'all recommend?

I know the Master Distiller and it is my favorite Texas distillery.
They have won a ton of awards and are pretty consistently good. They are really getting into special releases, like a lot of places, so being local means more access to those.

Just picked up a EHT Rye at Specs on 290 and Cypress Rose Hill. The guy there says they have one more left if somebody is looking.
The Specs on University in CS had 4 EHT Rye's on the very front counter where you check out around noon today.
Any reviews on Little Book "In Retrospect" (7th release)? Local shop has a couple of bottles but it isn't cheap.

What's your opinion on the SA TexAgs bottle? I picked up a Total Wine store bottle of the Still Austin Single Barrel Cask Strength this past week but I haven't opened it yet.

Personally, I've liked every TA pick I've been able to participate in.
This weekend, I killed my second bottle of the Garrison TA pick
That was one of my favorite bottles this year. I've had 4, 7, 8, 9 and I put that one second after lB8. LB9 is a distant last. I like bookers in general and LB7 is a big step up imo.
We crushed that one. All three barrels were good.
There's a big announcement thread letting everyone know it's coming ahead of time. Then a drip thread where you can claim bottles.

This is silly. We're here for bourbon whiskey interests. American Airlines is the only airline offering service out of CSTAT. You going to not use them because they are one of Texas' biggest sponsors? Wait till ya hear what Mattress Mack says in DKR on gamedays...

100% this. Drink good bourbon, who cares. And SA was cool enough to allow Texags to put a crying longhorn sticker on the bottle.

It was a concern of mine before we agreed to do the SA pick. I was of the same mind... my wife told me to "get over myself and enjoy good whiskey".
The folks at SA were super awesome and the pick was really a great experience. We sold 2x barrels or about 380 bottles to the TexAgs community, so I guess there are enough people to enjoy it.
We also got a ton of super positive feedback on the pick and how good it is. I've had it win a lot of blind tastings with some of my charity events... but again, no one was ever forcing anyone to buy it. Personally I would put it as our 3rd best pick after the Four Roses and the 1st Rebecca Creek Spanish Oak. (i still have a bottle of each of those)
If you get a chance, i might tell you to just try it off someone else, you didn't spend a dime on it, so free whiskey is free right?
But its just like any pick we do, its not for everyone and everyone won't always get a bottle. We do it for the love of whiskey and the love of this community. Hopefully over time, we do well enough to get everyone here to trust our palettes and know we are bringing you the best whiskey we can get our hands on.

I hope those who have gotten the Penelope X (so far) are enjoying it! We still don't have a date on RR sadly... waiting on that.
Be on the lookout... we have two on-site kentucky picks set on the schedule. They will be picked in mid June. The pick threads will go up in April(one for each pick)... but I'll let a little cat out here...

2. We are doing a Knob Creek pick and a Maker's Private Select pick.
