You aren't the only one. Given the disappearance of 10x and the overall decline in interest in whiskey I'm betting the number of grand reserve members drops tremendously.

Anyone who maintains status is pretty much going to be a guaranteed winner going forward.

Nice I also ended up with the new BTAC EH Taylor. It was not my first choice but happy to get something I don't have.

Picked up the latest in the Makers wood finishing series, the Stewards Release today. Always love these offerings and saw one and decided to grab one. Nose and palate are great, but finish is a little lacking compared to Keepers or The Heart. Still a really solid option and would buy another once this one is empty.

Where did you find this? Which proof did you get?

Specs in Dallas off marsh and walnut hill. It's the 2026 release (there was a 2025 release too) and 109.8 proof.

I'm Houston, but I will start looking here. I saw there will be two batches, one at the 109 and the other at 113.3.

Yep it's the 109 proof but says bottled in 2026 so not the 2025 version. It's good. Enjoying my second pour.

The Keeper's release last year is phenomenal to my palate. Would recommend to all who like Maker's and a thicker, oily mouthfeel.

Love the Keepers and The Heart from last year. Still have some of both. Great pours!

Freezer Old Fashioneds are clutch on days I'm feeling lazy, or like she says in the video you don't want to spend time being bartender when you have people over. Haven't done one in a while.

If I'm feeling EXTRA lazy, the Penelope Black Walnut premade Old Fashioned is an awesome one to use.

Is Spec's known for being superior to other bigger liquor store chains when it comes to bourbon? I believe total wine gate keeps with points. Pretty new to Bourbon and trying to figure out where I should go the few times a year I pick up a new bottle. Located in Houston

To echo, yep. A lot of specs has also moved to points too, but each store handles it a little differently. A lot of times it also depends what you're looking for. A lot of secondary market is easier to handle than the constant grind.

What area of Houston are you in? There's a few smaller shops I travel out of my way to get some things.

I often do batch cocktails to have on hand. Manhattans, harlems, margaritas.

Reusable screw top wine bottles in the wine fridge.

I'd also use the trading thread here. You pay secondary, but it's fair and don't have to play games.

Near downtown. Parents live in The Woodlands so I head that direction every now and then too

Specs Downtown has cases of EH Taylor Rye out.

I'm just a casual bourbon fan. I'm not hunting and I'm not investing time to make "friends". I'll only buy a bottle at msrp or close to it.

I'm familiar enough with the stores around me so I can pop in in my spare time and know where to go, in and out. One specs has a corner you hit for the slightly rare stuff. A TW near me likes to play stupid games for some of their bottles. They would put a few bottles on an endcap somewhere and if they are there an hour later, employees get a chance at them. You can see them eyeing the bottles on the shelf. LOL

Best way for casuals (well for me anyways) is to subscribe to FB and reddit groups and turn on notifications. When someone announces a drop, beeline your way over asap. If the store is slightly further away and only a few bottles are announced, forget it.

I guess my definition of hunting is different.

Grabbed two extra, one is already claimed and waiting to hear back on other one. If buddy doesn't take it it's yours.

Sorry, hit the road out of town as soon as I left there!
