Shoutout to William Price Distilling. Stopped in today for a quick cocktail with a buddy and got invited to the back to help "taste test" their Honey Barrel aged Single Barrel being released this Saturday.
It's delicious. Go grab a bottle this Saturday.
Owner allowed us to thief from the barrel, test ABV (114 cask strength) and fill a couple bottles before they proof it down to 90 for general sale.
What a fun and unique experience.

Well the buffalo trace distillery price increases have gone global…did my usual pickup of eagle rare in international duty free (Sydney) and they wanted 95 for EHT small batch and 55 for eagle rare. They had some pappys and GTS too at 4x the secondary market…ridiculous

Went to a whisky tasting recently... Still Austin was there. Never thought of trying before... had a taste of their blue corn product. Very good.
Now I must have, but it looks to be a once a year release (end of year?) ... and is always in high demand and are lucky if can acquire.

They rotate their four Bottled in Bonds. The Blue is winter, rye is spring, red is summer, and regular in the fall.
Prior to this year it was pretty easy to find. But the age statements keep going up so seems their is less released this year. The 2025 6-year was noticeably better than the 2024 5-year, which was still awesome.
The Red and Blue are standouts, as well as the Tanager. Their regular cask strength bourbon is a constant in my bar. The Texags team did an awesome job on the two single barrel Rye picks they did last year as well.

I talked to a friend who found a 2025 release of George T Stagg at Costco last week. Sounds like the above may have legs…and I'm here for it.

Not that it's the same or 1 to 1, but total wine yesterday had quite a few bottles of Blantons just sitting on the shelf. No one even cared or gave them a second look.

What is the consensus here on the Makers Mark Star Hill Farm 2025 American Wheat?
Recently got a bottle of Smokeye Hill Barrel Proof Bourbon. It had a lot of folks talking. While I'm not ready to say it is in the GTS stratosphere (apparently it beat GTS in one tasting), it is very good. High proof and yet sweet throughout. I'd buy again.
Tried it once at a whiskey bar and loved it. Most interesting expression from MM in a long time. Better than the 2024 Cellar Aged imo.
Definitely better than the two most recent MMCA. It's very good.
Probably my favorite new bottle from 2025. Cracked it open for Notre Dame game and even non bourbon drinkers appreciated it despite the proof.

Exactly. Was absolutely bonkers. I have no issue supporting local stores, but I'm walking out when you charge 2-3x MSRP.

Yes it is good. I purchased 2 bottles from Seelbach's (around $90/bottle) previously before I purchased it most recently from Specs. One of my 2025 favorites.
Some of these stores are off their rockers. The two I've gotten were 80-ish. Definitely would have walked at $250.
Recent Still Austin Blue Corn release one of the small local stores by me told me he was getting it and he'd set it aside. He probably hadn't had anyone ask for it so then figured it was something special. I get there and he tells me $220. Sir I'm not going to pay 3x retail, thanks though.

Yup, I picked one up before Christmas Day at Specs after Weighted Whiskey mentioned it. Very good. I would buy again.
Curious as to what one would expect to pay for 2025 THH on the secondary market in Houston these days?
