Rye yes. Bourbon no. I just had both at the distillery 3 weeks ago.

MSRP is $100, which is the price I've seen it at most shops. As for the juice, it was ok, but tasted pretty young to me. $100 for a 6 year bourbon isn't a great value proposition for me personally, but I like the concept, and will be interesting to see how this expression develops in future releases.

The bourbon is meh. Get the Rye if you see it like the others have said.

One writers opinion of the best distilleries to visit. As I haven't visited any of them, I have no comment on his 15 best.

Basically a list of most good tours others recommend here. I have done five of those and they each have something a little unique and are all fun.

Solid list. I think Brown Foreman closed (or is closing) the Old Forester Whiskey Row cooperage tho. That was the coolest part of that tour, and without it, I probably wouldn't recommend it.

Glad I passed then.

You don't actually tour the cooperage, they just have that really cool set up to show you how barrels are fired. That's still part of the tour from what I've heard.

It used to be a working cooperage...if they kept the barrel firing part, that would be nice b/c that was the coolest part.

The main cooperage is off-site. They are closing that part down.

They still build about 5-8 barrels a day there. Was there on 03/07.

And you tour the cooperage where they char a barrel

Has anyone done the tour at Treaty Oak in Dripping Springs? Going to be in the area for a wedding this weekend.

It used to be really great but I haven't been pretty significant changes last year. They closed the restaurant which was really good. I'm sure the tour is still a good time though.

Yes, did the tour 2-3 years back. I was with a wedding group of which many weren't interested in the distillery/ops aspect or what I would characterize as bourbon aficionados so we definitely got what I would characterize as a light version, but I have zero complaints about the stop.

The entire experience was awesome - great venue, cocktails, food, etc. Would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to spend a few hours hanging out with casual food and craft cocktails with added bonus to see how the product is made.

There's a little bakery/shop area right next door too and usually a good crowd throughout the day from what I recall. Good coffee, light breakfast, etc

ETA just saw post above me that they changed a lot. Can only speak for the experience as it was a couple years back but was a great time

Yeah, it's just up the road from us. We were bummed when they closed the restaurant as it was very good. They are focusing on events now; I get why but a bit of a bummer for locals.

Appreciate the quick feedback. Sounds like a good plan to kill a few hours before a late Saturday wedding.

What's everyone's thoughts on Old Fitz? Got my first one last weekend (fall 2024 release). Planning on cracking it in a few weeks after closing on a new house.

Congrats on your new home! It's a great lower proof pour. I enjoy the sweet oak notes and it's a great bottle to share with friends and family. Definitely a good bottle to crack for a celebration.

Knowing it's a BiB, I enjoy it. As stated above, some would sneer at the 100 proof point. I like heat, but also really like a solid BiB.

Is the OGD 16 year worth $150? One sitting behind the counter at specs.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
That's the best price you'll see it at, but it's a disappointing bottle.

Cracked mine and haven't had a second pour out of it.

Just found an Eagle Rare and Knob Creek 12 in the wild at MSRP.
Also picked up an Ironroot Harbinger, Buffalo Trace, and Penelope Architect (never had it).

Saw an ER at Costco. It was $54.98. Probably $60 after tax. That thing has gone up.

Yeah. Heard good things

Good news - A lot of good stuff on the shelf today. I bought such a huge number of bottles last year, that I haven't stepped foot in a liquor store for 6 months or more. Felt way different. I noticed a difference in product.

I'm not 100% certain (no receipt), but I think it was $48 at Twin Liquors. Got the last one. I like it and like to pay retail for it.
I think it is worth it up to $60. So I got a deal
