I laughed as hard at that as the idea that there's somebody out there that's going to hand them seven figures to basically light on fire.
Ok. Two in one day. Celebrating getting my workshop arranged so I stop tripping over stuff. I've had this one before and liked it well enough to make a sumac saison myself. I harvested the sumac earlier in the fall, will brew it sometime this spring.
Got to try a taster of this 2016 Lagunitas High West-ified Imperial Coffee Stout yesterday. Was damn good! Busted out the keg for a big event…there were a handful of throwbacks and aged kegs.
Basically Willettized but in High West barrels. The coffee notes were all gone and it was tasting purely like a straight bourbon barrel stout.

With all the brewery closings lately, figured i'd do my part to support local.
O.G. Buff Imperial Stout with Madagascar Vanilla Beans from False Idol Brewing. Vanilla is not over powering but at 13% it's definitely a sipper. Happy Friday Lunch.
I usually meet some beer buddies every Friday to drink beer and argue. We typically bring beer to share. Here is the lineup for this afternoon.
Had my share of Marble Brewing beers this week in Big Bend.
Sad but true fact...the beers at French Grocery in Marathon and the Chisos Basin store in the park, all in the middle of freaking nowhere, had beers less than a month old, fresher than most outlets in B/CS.

BCS has dozens and dozens and dozens of outlets to sell beer. How many places sold beer in big bend?
Don't disrupt my tirade against the B/CS stores that do a crappy job of managing their inventory!

Total Wine in College Station has singles for those looking. Just looked at my receipt and it rang up as $2.79/bottle.
"Mott the Lesser" Imperial Stout from Tributary Brewery in Kittery Maine. Aged in port, madeira, and cherry brandy barrels. One damn fine beer.
Is the 8th Wonder taproom still open?

SLC:
I missed the note that after Squatters/Wasatch was sold to CANarchy, the pubs in SLC and Park City were sold and changed to Salt Lake Brewing Co. It's fine...
Boise:
Jim Dandy opened in Boise a couple months back. Gorgeous taproom. The beer is promising. The focus seems to be on more traditional styles. They had 4 side pulls.
ABQ:
Not sure if I've mentioned Flock of Moons in ABQ, but it's a fantastic addition to a great beer city. In my top 5 for sure.
Sunday Service Moto Co, on the other hand was a massive letdown for me.
Santa Fe:
Stopped by Nuckolls in Santa Fe and what a killer space. That joint will be packed when it warms up. They only had one of their own on tap though.
Tumbleroot has a new "Pottery Pub" in downtown Santa Fe. Their beer is adequate... But it's an interesting concept where you get a slab of clay and can craft something while you drink and socialize.
I think that's it from my usual stomping grounds...

Quarterly trip to visit Houston friends included Eureka Heights! Good variety of low and high ABV, all adequate at worst. My favorites were the Fruity hazy haze juice (or something like that), Tinsel Trousers spiced ale (pictured), and the Final Boss imperial IPA.
Stereotypical but fun taproom with plenty of TVs and a food truck out front.
