What???? I went there last summer and liked that place a lot. Beer wasn't the best though.

It's no longer enough just to have one of: good beer, cool place, good food program/options. You really need to be hitting on multiple cylinders to succeed anymore. We are at a flatline in number of breweries in the US. Last year openings and closings were a near 1:1 ratio. And in volume production it is really a decline, not a flatline, as (this is partially conjecture) a lot of the openings are for smaller production breweries than what some of the closures were producing at their peak.

A lot of the ones around Houston that closed were cool places with good people, but the beer really wasn't up to snuff. The bar is definitely moving higher. Especially with trends seeming to move off of craft beer to an extent.

The counter to that was Ingenious who had great beer in a bad location.

True. There've definitely been some that were disappointing to see go. There's been some talk that one nobody is going to see coming may go down in the coming months.

I always wonder how long places like Back Pew and 11 Below will be able to hang on.

That Xocoveza is pretty solid too. Wish they'd send the. Xocoveza Charred this way again. Hell, I wish they'd send the ******* variants this way again. *******'s Midnight Brunch is one of my favorites ever. Barrel Aged Arrogant ******* with Maple Syrup. So tasty.

They had a few things that were ok, but we went to the brewery with my parents a couple years ago and about the only thing good was the view. The owner was also supposedly a pretty awful person.

I never went there…You think another brewery will lease that space?
