There at least used to be a cheeky monk at the base of the mountain don't know if it's still there or not. Can't help you with the actual town as all the years I skied winter park I never actually made it into the town.
More looking for Winter Park specifically. Staying about 3/4 of a mile north of the resort.
Flying in/out of Denver. I have a decent grasp on places in Denver (although always open to suggestions). It's been almost two years since I was last there.

Where do you guys fly in to when you go to Decorah? Do you fly in to MSP? MKE? Or do you go to one of the regional airports?
We flew into MSP. But Madison, WI is almost the exact same distance from Decorah as MSP.
Would be cool to roll a Madison visit into the trip.
I almost did when I went. My cousin is up there working on his PhD at UW.
