Looks like $25 each, limit of 3 of each type per person. $9 snifter pours.

I'll be buying my max of course and get a snifter of each, but that's too damn expensive.

Anybody hear of the bourbon county mishap?

From website:
quote:

To our loyal fans,

Each year you stand in long lines in the cold to get your hands on Bourbon County Stout and the special variants. This is beer that we hope is shared on special occasions, or maybe even makes the occasion special. Beer that we truly hope helps strengthen bonds and makes lasting memories.

I want you to know that the entire team at Goose Island puts our heart and soul into making Bourbon County, and we understand and appreciate your high expectations for them. It is always our intention to put forth the best beer we can craft. When we don't meet those expectations we take it personally, and we want to make it right.

It has come to our attention that since bottling the 2015 Bourbon County Coffee and Bourbon County Barleywine, they have developed flavors that are not consistent with our expectation of how these beers should taste. That's not to say the beer doesn't taste good, in fact some drinkers may enjoy it very much. However, it doesn't meet our standards for the taste profile of these beers.

All of our beer goes through a very thorough quality oversight process including sensory and microbiology programs. This by no means is a guarantee of success especially with barrel aged beers. Both of these beers have drifted out of their target character thus leading us to provide refunds for anyone who is unsatisfied with them. Anyone who would like a refund for 2015 Bourbon County Coffee or 2015 Bourbon County Barleywine, please contact us at 1-800-Goose-Me.

In spite of the risks inherent with barrel aging, our quest to grow these beers and our barrel aging program will persevere. I hope you continue to join us in this adventure

Guess I should drink it soon to find out if it's not what I expect.

There are definitely bad batches out there. Apparently they are giving refunds no questions asked. Great customer service.

In my opinion, this years regular bourbon county is the best bang for your buck barrel aged stout ever made.

2015 coffee is the only one I've ever had so I don't have any other years to compare it to. It's still a damn good beer.

I've paid $12 for a lot worse.

any thoughts on 5 stones? I only recently picked a couple of their beers up. the first one was norma jeane, the strawberry vanilla blonde. the flavors (particularly strawberry) weren't quite as pronounced as I was hoping for, but it was still a pretty decent beer. I'm drinking the aloha pina tonight, pineapple golden ale with roasted jalapeno, and I'm liking this one a whole lot. pretty unique but really works for me.

I enjoyed them enough to plan on trying some of their other offerings, so if anyone has any recommendations please post them. i know theyve got some barrel aged and more premium stuff. it might take a while for me to acquire said recommendations as I haven't noticed their stuff here in Houston, not anywhere i shop at least (nor is this a huge priority). i got these bottles while visiting family in San Antonio, but if I strike out on my own I might have an aunt grab some for me and mail them or just wait til I make it that way again. haven't been to downtown specs in quite some time, but might be worth checking out too. if anyone happens to have noticed them downtown or anywhere on the nw side (290/bw8 and out preferably) I'd appreciate the info

I had the one with coconut. I think it was a hefe, but may have been a saison (I drank a lot of beer over christmas). Either way, it was very good.

I do recall seeing a hefe with what I wanna say was coconut and pomegranate maybe? could be wrong on the pomegranate though. I didn't grab it at the time because I figured 2 was enough in case they ended up being a big texas beer quality of brewery, but I should have known better. they actually have professional bottles with some cool art to boot. not a pixelated photo of the owners wife plastered embarrassingly all over the bottle. thanks for the recommendation though, I should have bought it then but definitely will next chance I get.

thanks for the heads up. I was at jv recently and didn't notice any but it was right before Christmas so I was just in there on a mission to get what I was there for and get out, so could have missed them. good to know they are here to some degree, was thinking they might be sa/Austin only. glad that isn't the case

Guess I should open up my 2015 BC barleywine soon.

I'll let y'all know what it's like.

It's in another town though so it won't be for another couple of weeks at least.

A very interesting beer. I don't love stouts, but the sourness and airiness made it easy to drink. Still had the stout flavor though.

This is a really good sour with raspberry. I'd rank it up there with the better Almanac and RRBC.

Which was your favorite?

Did they have their whiskey barrel brew? Can't remember the name...believe it's a brewery location only offering.

So sitting over my shepherds pie and 90 Shilling at the Bull and the Bear tonight I did something a bit spontaneous. I bought one of those Frontier airlines ridiculously low fares $66 non stop RT to Denver from Houston for later this month. I'll have an entire Wednesday (flight is at 5-something AM) thru Saturday (flight is something late PM) to do tastings and basically whatever I want.

So tell me what I want to do.

I also need this information. You just motivated me to book a flight for April. Outside of Avery and a few breweries in the mountains, I need to know where else I must go while there.

For those coming to Denver, river north area is a hotbed right now. Easily 10 breweries within walking or a short uber ride. The new great divide barrel room, crooked stave, epic, river north, black shirt, our mutual friend, mockery brewing, just to name a few. And blue moon building a new brewpub right along the river which will all be developed over the next few years.

Easily a days worth of great beer.
