I grabbed one of those texas craft packs from heb. Guess I should have checked it. Got 4 of the same beers and two other sets of 2. 10 beers and only 4 unique. Either someone messed with it or these things are packed terribly.

Found a few bottles of Karbach BBH. Hope it's good for $12.99/bottle.

Are there any breweries that y'all have had such a bad experience from that it puts you off from their beers entirely?

Rahr & Sons is like that for me. Their bottled Texas red was just not good at all.

Pikes peak when they tried to tell me their cheese smelling Berliner was correct for the style. Have never spent a dime on their beer since.

The infected bottle of Kickin Chicken I got from Santa Fe that they passed off as not ****ed up.

agree 1000%. for the life of me I can't think of a brewer (that targets drinkers like me, not considering bmc, leinenkugels, joose, etc) that routinely puts out such god awful products with painfully awkward names and bottle art made in 1996 with ms paint that's got a pixelated image of dude's definite less than an 8 of a wife incorporared somehow. that's 8 out of 100 tbh

and then everything I've read about and from the guy/company is hes an arrogant, unprofessional **** and doesn't deserve support imo. if this was a brewery that seemed to be really trying to get it right and displayed some humility along the way, especially when their product is clearly not good enough at best, I might continue to give them a shot over time hoping they figure it out. maybe I'm off base here but their stance is the beer is phenomenal and everyone that disagrees can get ****ed.

yet they're in every grocery store in town, so either I'm in the minority on this or the heb's of the world are regretting that deal. I've literally never drain poured a beer unless maybe it sat open in the garage overnight after a party and I had legit concern it might be pissed in, but many of these big texas beers would be otherwise the first for me to dump like that. I've never bought a bomber, just sampled others bottles. it's definitely a combination of the awful beer and ridiculous owners, just one of those can maybe be overcome but not both. who the **** is buying this **** though? is it really just because it says texas on it?

Sitting in a bar in the Munich airport waiting for my connection. Time to find some good bottle shops in Prague / Budapest.

I didn't stumble across any bottle shops in either but definitely hit up Szimpla Kert in Budapest. Had some great beers on tap.

I've got nothing to do today. I'll be at Specs at 9:30am I think...pulling my pud with the other losers.

So the Westy has arrived in Austin. I have 20 bottles so I think I have everyone's except BSD with me. We can start making arrangements to pick it up.

jetch, I've found that the Specs at Kirkwood & Westheimer has about 95% of the selection of Smith St. Sometimes even better because it doesn't get as picked over. The only thing that I haven't been able to consistently get out in the hinterlands that I can get downtown is a Samuel Smith Organic Ale that my MIL likes.
