Wanna thank jah again as I got my package and had my first live oak hefe tonight. Very good stuff. He also was awesome enough to throw in a 2013 BCBS. Great bull.

I'm headed to FW area on Saturday. Any brews or bottle shops I should look out for in the area?

Hoping to find some BA Legion which looks plentiful based on the Spec's website. Does Prairie get run on up there like down here in Houston? Would love to grab another BA Bomb.

Central Market off Hulen in FW had both BA Legion and BA Bomb as of Wednesday. Picked up a BA Bomb. Didn't like as much as the regular bomb. Wasn't as chile forward.

Tasted BBH Chocolate two days ago and forgot to post about it here. The pure cacao was an even better addition than I imagined... I think I like this one even better than BBHV. Hitting shelves Monday!

I was looking earlier is there anyway to place online to find what they have on tap. I wouldn't mind filling my growler there but don't live that close so I'd like to see what they have before I head down there. Seems like it wouldn't be hard to put out on twitter or something but I can't find anything,.

I couldn't find CM's tap list online either. Two other places you can fill the growler up in FW are Pouring Glory and Collective Brewery.

They used to put it on twitter, but since Jana left, no one has picked up the slack.

Ya doesn't seem like it would be that hard to update but what do I know?

Thanks for the heads up on Pouring Glory too. It's not that close either but looks like it may be worth a trip down there one weekend.

Anyone had the collab between Rahr and Lakewood called DFW? I've got one in the fridge I'll probably try tonight.

Yeah, it's actually pretty good this year. I've had a pint or two at Dr. Jeckyll's in Arlington.

went to heb today for growlers fills and groceries and whatnot. saw they got the jw lees stuff in and I've never tried it, so I grabbed a port, a whisky, and a calvados cask ale. they're $10 a piece for 12oz but ive heard good things. while checking out I wasn't paying a lot of attention as I was bagging up all my ****, but when I was done she handed me the cardboard make your own 6 pack holder full of the jw lees and some less exciting stuff with my receipt. she told me some of them were ringing up as the whole six pack instead of one bottle, but she fixed it. I assumed she meant some of the founders type stuff. after leaving, I looked at my receipt. she apparently thought $10 a bottle for jw lees was too much and manually changed the price to 1.99 for each bottle. so that worked out nicely

heb bunker hill is having a sierra nevada tap takeover tomorrow afternoon that I won't be able to make, but I figured I'd share in case someone else was interested. nice looking list, including ovila, the chilli stout, and the wild hop ipa. wish I could be there to get some of those

I drink a ton of Victory Summer Love during the summer. Other than that I can't say that I've had another Victory that was anything memorable.

Stopped at Total Wine today and picked up some BA Legion, Coffee Okie, and Avery Tweak. All will be new beers for me.

Also, this isn't bad. I'm not getting much cherry, but it's solid overall.

I seem to remember enjoying victory's fresh hop IPA. Hop ranch maybe? But I don't typically drink their stuff

yeah, hop ranch is good, along with dirt wolf. I also really like sform king, especially when price is factored in. they've got lots of other beers that are good but dont really distinguish themselves.

tonight I put down my first dry dock beer, the whiskey aged coffee porter (thanks again, hudson). I loved it, I don't even know what else to say about it. very well done. while I don't forsee many of their beers in my future just because I don't get out of tx much, I'd definitely jump on anything else I'd see by them given the chance.

also tried ape snake tonight. pretty interesting. I honestly had little expectation of it, it was just the "other" beer I bought along with barrel aged bomb (I'm sure I'll prefer regular bomb but didn't want to pass on the chance to get one, overpriced and all). but it's really pretty solid and has a little more funk than I expected. I wouldnt mind grabbing a couple more of these in the future as I'm sure theyll sit on shelves a while like most prairie stuff. I buy lots of bomb but mostly growler fills, otherwise prairie prices themselves out of my regular rotation mostly. it's a shame because I like most of their beers, and if they were at least reasonably competitive on pricing I'd constantly drink their ****. but as is, more often than not even the beers they put out that i do like are one and done for me

After having a couple I've decided that I don't really care for Karbach's new pilsner Zee Germans. I was hopeful that it would be a good river trip beer for this summer, but I'll finish off the ones I have and not buy anymore. Not bad, but not something I really got excited for. Plenty of other summer beers to occupy my time

Hopefully Staycation comes back as the summer beer this year. I liked that one a lot.

Had the same thought. Tried it poured and out of the can and I'm just not a fan either way. Given a choice between that and Miller Lite it wins hands down but that's about it.

I too am hoping they bring back Staycation. That was my go to last year.

Kind of want to check out the Live Oak Taproom grand opening this weekend but may wait for the first push crowds to settle and check it out in a few weeks.

Thought it was cool that Jester King didn't release anything new at all this week in what I assume was an attempt not to draw attention away from LO.

I'm sure it's been covered, but I need revs for tasting rooms, beer bars, and bottle shops in Portland. Is de Garde readily available?

Here is a post I made about a year ago. Still valid, but would add new brewpubs Ex Novo and Zoiglhaus:

Too many good beer places to mention them all in one post, but here is a decent start:

Downtown/close-in
Breweries/brewpubs:
Deschutes - best overall combo of brew and pub
Cascade - sour specialists if you are in to that
Hair of the Dog - strong ales, really cool selection of old cellared stuff
Pints - in downtown. Haven't been there yet but have heard good things

Bottle shops:
The Beermongers - across street from Apex bar below. Good bottle selection and nice set of rotating taps of rare stuff

Beer bars:
Apex - amazing selection. highly recommend. CASH ONLY.
Bailey's Tap Room - prob best selection of rare/special taps in downtown
Green Dragon (near Cascade brewery) - liked it better before Rogue bought it, but still one of the better beer bars in town.

Further out
Breweries/brewpubs:
Breakside - GABF gold IPA and lots of experimental brews. Recommend their North Portland brew pub rather than their south side production brewery for better Portland atmosphere.
Ecliptic - started by guy who came up with Deschutes Black Butte Porter, Mirror Pond, and Jubleale recipes. Great neighborhood as well - if going here, also try the German bar Prost nearby
Hopworks - organic brewery/brewpub. Good beer and food. Very Portlandia.

Bottle Shops:
Belmont Station - prob most famous bottleshop in town. Has an attached bar with rotating rare beers.
John's Market - enormous bottle selection but not really a place for atmosphere. No on-site drinking.
Imperial Bottle Shop - good but not great. Worth going to if you want to combine with a trip to Salt and Straw or one of the restaurants in the neighborhood.

Beer bars:
Horse Brass - highly recommend this English pub. They alternate between RRBC Blind Pig and Pliny the Elder on tap. Tons of other taps with good stuff.
Saraveza
Roscoe's - a bit further out, but great rotating tap selection and nice little neighborhood. My favorite dive in Portland. Fantastic Sushi.

Between staycation and love street Karbach has the summer/river/pool beer taken care of. Deep ellum blonde is also firmly on that list.
