Fra-gee-lay is hitting the shelves at specs Bay Area in clear lake

Going to NYC this weekend. Any suggestions for good beer bars/brews to try?

Nice. Sucks your flight was delayed but Toro-Sur had a ton of hoppy beer on over the weekend. Unfortunately I was in KC all weekend else had I been here I would have met up.

Alpine is only 20mins from my house and a regular visit.

Just stumbled on mucho Frag-Gee-Lay at HEB Fry rd.

Frio, I've heard good things about TØRST. It's in Brooklyn.

As far as the Lolita, I actually got sidetracked just before opening that last night, I'm going to get into it tonight instead, so we'll see!

I actually didn't know it cost that much, picked it up on a company expensed run to specs last week pop pop gets a treat?

Juliet was very good and about $25 for the 765ml bottle. Lolita is also very good and about $20 a bottle here in CS.

Karbach is new to me. Someone tell me about their Winter/Christmas stuff. Specifically, how's the Fra-Gee-Lay?

all the karbach regular offerings (Hopadillo, Sympathy, Rodeo Clown, Weiss Versa) are solid for regular drinking.

The F.U.N. series is highly acclaimed, although theyre pretty hellbent on multiple iterations of Hellfighter, which isnt necessarily a bad thing, just wish theyd mix it up a bit.

For the holidays they have 'Yule Shoot Your Eye Out' which is basically christmas in a glass, dark and spiced with ginger, cocoa, nutmeg & cinnamon. The Fra-gee-lay is just Yule aged in bourbon barrels.

Yeah gonna agree to disagree there.. Blech. Not a big Hopadillo fan either. But their new seasonal Mother in Lager is quite good IMO. I wish they'd replace Sympathy with that.

just threw it out there, moreso for the fact i like thier regular lineup better than Saint A offerings.

Weekend Warrior has been the regular in the fridge it seems of thier stuff.

Fair on that point, for sure. I think Weekend Warrior is fairly solid as well. Hopefully they'll continue to improve.

I honestly think I've seen more BBA Hellfighters on shelves than regular Hellfighters during Karbach's time here.

Kbachs new building looks sweet. They are going gangbusters. My favorites are the Weisse Versa, Rodeo Clown, Barn Burner and Hellfighter. Wish they would can Hellfighter. I like the BBA version but it is a little pricy for regular consumption /lolpoor

Karbach is increasing from 40k barrels to 120k.

Also, talking with one of the Hilliard guys at the BCBS keg event Obannons, he said that all of GI's regular beers, are now being brewed at AB breweries, leaving GI's Chicago location to brew all the BCBS and Signature series of beers. So hopefully, they can produce more and maintain the high quality.

Karbach's stuff is ok. Their fun series is also drastically overpriced for how much they are putting out now.

And they have changed their tour policies and increased the price. That's their decision to make, but I remember them claiming they wouldn't change their tour when the new laws passed.

To be honest, some of their stuff is better than SA, and some isn't. But there is much more non-local stuff with better price point and tastier products that are available in the Texas market now.

I feel the same way. Karbach's regular overall rotation is better than Saint Arnold's (with the exception of Endeavor). Saint Arnold's special releases are better than Karbach's.

Good list, my only change would be bumping Hop Delusion up higher. That **** was phenomenal.

Yeah I'd argue that fresh Hop Delusion was EASILY the best thing that Karbach has put out to date. The BBH stuff has been good but Hop Delusion was incredible when it was fresh.

I agree on hop delusion, I kept that stocked up throughout the summer. Easily my favorite from Karbach

Hop Delusion was great fresh, but became a huge shelf turd when all the extra fell off.

Still looking forward to the next round of Bodacious in February, i loved that stuff.

Didn't get a chance to try bodacious, really hoping they make as much of it as they have the last several fun releases.

I dont think this one will actually be called bodacious though will it? Bodacious was Rodeo Clown in wine barrels and 009 is Rodeo Clown in bourbon barrels like the 003/005/007, they might call it something new?

Can't say I've ever had a bourbon barrel IPA before. Curious to see how that will turn out.
