Finally found some fresh Union Jack in Austin yesterday... tough to beat 2 weeks old.

Also, ran into my beer guy yesterday while shopping. He got two bottles of Utopias in at $199 each. I actually thought about buying it, but couldn't justify it... (especially not with the wife).

I was wondering how much the Utopias was. That's insane.

There's a costco in Denver selling it for $160. That was a week or two ago, though, so it's probably gone.

Lulz poors and whipped!

Just kidding, I don't like paying $15 for a six pack of Sculpin and it's my favorite IPA.

Weihenstephaner Original Premium Bavarian Helles beer.

Taste: Well structured and rounded carbonation cradles the delicate light to medium body, the clean hop bitterness is evident with a soft lemon like twang. Malt flavour is similar to a lightly baked biscuit from fresh milled malted grain. Both hops and malt meld together to form a perfect blend, yeast complements by adding a touch of nuttiness. Light feel of alcohol towards the end with the lingering effects of the malt, yeast and a long drawn out faded hops finish.

Notes: A lager in the raw, in its authentic natural form. This is the quintessential lager in the world. Bow down to the true lager (German Helles) and you will be one with beer. This is the best of the best hands down. Bavarian's show why they are the greatest beer makers in the world.

Cracked this one last night...some will say I waited too long on an IPA, but considering how boozy it still was, I'd say I needed to wait a little longer...

Also, has anyone opened a Deschutes Green Monster yet?

info for all you sour-heads!

http://blog.seattlepi.com/washingtonbeerblog/2013/11/20/new-belgium-brewing-doubling-capacity-for-wood-aged-beer-production/

quote:
New Belgium Brewing is about to double its wood beer capacity with the addition of 32 new French Oak foeders (large wooden casks for conditioning sour beer) that will bring their total foeder count to 64. Space has been allocated, reinforced concrete flooring has been poured, and the first 12 foeders will be put in place this week. The expansion will allow New Belgium to effectively double its wood beer production in coming years. New Belgium first began making wood-aged sour beers in the form of the award-winning La Folie in 1998 when Brewmaster, Peter Bouckaert, joined the brewery. Bouckaert formerly brewed at Rodenbach in Belgium, home of the Flanders style, Rodenbach Red.

Now if they can just price their sours properly; Paying almost twice as much for a belgian style sour from america than an actual belgian sour just doesn't compute to me!
