After much thought (like the last 5 minutes)…
We are officially going to shift to "buy in" model for this years March Madness contest. $30 will get you in… so start checking those couch cushions.
1st place receives the "pot" in 70% beer and 20% cash (woah your math is ****ty… stay with me here). Can also do 100% beer if the winner chooses. Beer will be purchased and sent by me and will be specifically catered to the winners wants. I've got a lot of connections in a lot of places and I'll be in the Midwest this summer.
2nd place receives a New Glarus/midwest box from me. I will use the remaining 10% from the buy in to make this box happen. I might use a little bit of my own $ to make this happen too.
I probably won't be buying in because buying beer for myself is weird. I'll still participate (and obviously can't win) just so I can talk **** when I finish *checks notes* 2nd to last.
If we get 20 participants (which is pretty typical). You'd be looking at right around $500 for a 1st place box after shipping fees which is pretty sexy.

So, this is a first. I was having a Pliny at a bar in the LA area (I don't want to sell them out) and when I got a second one the bartender took my empty glass straight to the taps and filled it back up.

That's a good eye, but it seems it has been too long since you've been to Father's Office. You forgot that they serve their Pliny in these glasses.
That sucks. Don't think I've ever had that happen. Makes you wonder how much they take people's glasses back in near contact with the faucets. And, if they're pouring it ****ty, getting those glasses or the liquid in them all in contact with the faucet itself.

Ha indeed I did. Hard to beat a Pliny and FO burger, even if they are a bit pertinacious.
Hit up a book talk in Chinatown with Massimo Bottura and his wife, for their new book Slow Food Fast Cars. Needed some refreshment after (and Togo cans) so good thing Highland Park was 5 minutes away.

Other Half just showed up in BCS. Decently fresh too. It is really good, but at $25 after taxes, it's not that good.

Parish Barrel Aged Swamp Stack. Aged 3 years in Blanton's barrels! Packs a punch at 13%.

Would love to be up in the mountains skiing right now, but not a bad day for some porch drinking this afternoon.
"Citra Revengeance" 8% NEIPA. A collaboration between Mason Ale Works in San Diego and Beer Zombies Brewing in Las Vegas. Pretty decent but has a odd coconut finish. As always, Rotolo's cannot get a glass clean.
Interesting, didn't realize Rotolo's was a chain. I've only been to the one there in the village at Keystone.
In the land of 5% beer for a few days!
