Went with the hoppy feet 1.5 double black ipa...
Because I had it before and didn't feel like writing any new notes tonight. the only thing I'll add is that you should definitely share a bomber of this rather than drinking it all yourself...this stuff is rich...
In any case, at the expense of being made fun of again, I'll post my old review anyway...
"Clown Shoes Hoppy Feet 1.5 pours a deep dark chocolate brownish black that lets almost no light through, even when tested with a flashlight. Atop this deep color lies a thin, creamy, brownish khaki head. The nose at first whiff is as would be expected for a black ipa, citrus and chocolate intertwined. However on subsequent ventures into this complex aroma, dark chocolate dominates, touched by espresso, with just a hint of orange. The chocolate definitely definitely takes over this portion of the party but allows citrus to float around at best. The taste reflects the complex aroma well. Chocolate envelopes the mouth from front onward, as the complex flavor crashes over the tongue in waves. The first, true sweetness of an almost milk chocolate, develops as it travels. The taster recognizes this familiar flavor, and a sensation of warmth from this recognition ensues. Appropriately, just as this recognition takes place, a slight true warmth appears as a hint of alcohol, the only hint of this concoction's ABV, heralds the second act. In this wave, the chocolate flavor changes from sweeter to a more sophisticated, pure dark chocolate. It is creamy, bitter, dark, and delicious. This wave splashes onto the upper shores of the mouth, washing up onto the peak of the tongue where a bold dark chocolate rides in front but clean bitterness remains after the tide recedes. Truly, even the bitterness comes in stages, as from dark chocolate to espresso to the true IPA bitterness of orange citrus and pine the pages of this story turn. The true beauty of this beer is that, more fully than any other, it accomplishes what the idea of a Black IPA is. All in one glass, the taster experiences a porter, a stout, and as expected by the name, an IPA. This beer is big. It looks creamy and strong, and delivers on that with a at first full mouthfeel and dominant flavors of chocolate and espresso. Further, and fantastically, the taster soaks in these flavors only to recognize that at its core this beer is still an IPA. The bold flavor gives way to the bitterness and finishes clean, almost as if the full mouthfeel upfront were just an illusion, though it repeats with each sip. Somehow this brew uses the natural progression from milk to dark chocolate to espresso to finally bring the drinker seamlessly and smoothly to the wonderful flavor of lingering bitterness that hopheads desire. It is a masterful transformation just makes fantastic and perfect gustatory sense. As near to flawless of a representation of what a Black IPA should be, Clown Shoes makes it easy to kick up your heels and give Hoppy Feet 1.5 an easily won and enthusiastic 5 stars."
Flame away...this beer rocks!
