At Jester King this afternoon. Vague Recollection is criminally underrated and undersold. My favorite JK beer.

They're doing some cellar release today, so I may be heading off with a few bottles.

I'm drinking DDH Axis IPA from Real Ale. I'm a fan of the regular. And this one is good too. But I'm not getting the hop aroma I'm used to out of other ddh beers. Not sure it's $15 a 4 pack of 16oz good though.

I had the same issue. I like the regular Axis and had high hopes for this one. I just didn't taste anything different. It wasn't bad, there was just nothing different about it to me.

I was surprised to see that Vague Recollection made it to distribution. I pick one up at my local HEB.

https://www.millercoorsblog.com/news/about-those-bud-light-ads/

Miller/Coors fights back on the bud light corn syrup debate.

Quote:

Among several media outlets to weigh in on Bud Light's attempt at a broadside, Men's Health took up the question of whether corn syrup in beer is bad for you. The answer? "It doesn't matter whether your beer contains corn syrup, because those refined sugars are eliminated in the fermentation process anyway," the publication wrote. "In short, it's no big deal if the sweetener is coming from corn syrup or Gisele's tears of joy if no residual sugars are left after fermentation."

Craft brewers know this. Vinnie Cilurzo, owner and brewmaster of Pliny The Elder-maker Russian River Brewing Co., recommends using up to 5 percent dextrose sugar in the kettle in order to brew the dry, lighter-bodied beers he prefers. "This will give you a drier beer while not contributing any additional body," he told the American Homebrewers Association.

I wonder how Russian River feels about being used in a fight between AB InBev and MillerCoors.

I'd much prefer Gisele's tears of joy over corn syrup!

Tree House Moment of Clarity is one of my favorite beers of all time. It is second to Impermanence also from Tree House.

It blew us all away. I have one left and will definitely be saving it for a special occasion. Apparently they recently had "Extra Maple Moment of Clarity" on tap...I can only imagine.

We had their Double Shot Marshmallow at the brewery and it was absurdly good. Tree House is a must visit if you're ever in the Boston area. It's about an hour drive from downtown.

I know it's been mentioned before on the thread, what recommendations do y'all have for Portland, ME? Not just beer but food, etc. too.

Always, and it is much appreciated. I knew it was sold out and was just seeing if he had a few leftover.

These were my recommendations to dave99Ag back on page 1383 of this thread...

Quote:

I have spent a few evenings in Portland in the last few months. I can STRONGLY suggest that you hit up Oxbow. They are fantastic and have a great little food window right outside. There is also a meadworks and distillery in the same building.

I also recommend hitting up Tandem coffee roasters either their bakery or their roasting building.

For Oysters, I recommend The Shop at Island Creek.

For Lobster, I would go to the High Roller Lobster Co.

Another good one is Eventide Oyster Company

In reality I would spend a couple of weeks in Portland exploring food and drink if I could. It has an enormous density of breweries and FANTASTIC food.

Hopefully he will chime in with his feelings if he went to any of the above. I am desperately trying to get back to Portland for a few days to eat and drink more...

Totally agreed. We went when I was up there a few weeks ago and we had Double Shot Marshmallow and Double Shot Oreo on tap. Came away with cans of Moment of Clarity, Sssappp, Super Sap, Super Typhoon, Julius, Green, and Haze. Was tricky keeping my bags under weight when coming home but very worth it.

I shipped a box (~45 cans) home as I knew there was no way I could check it.
