Just found out from Thigbe that TDU delivery charge increased from 3.1/kwh to over 5/kwh in the areas serviced by Centerpoint energy. So just beware electricity getting even more crazy expensive. The rate hike went into effect starting September.

Apparently these charges change every March and September. They go down in March as we move into the summer season and total usage increases which generates more revenue from the per kWh rate. At the end of summer, the rate goes back up to compensate for lower usage in cooler months. The rate is definitely higher in 2023 than it was in 2022, but for a fair comparison you need to compare rates year to year during those periods.

I work for a gas utility. That cost will be covered by a small fee on your bill for the next 30 years. The state basically sold a bond to cover the cost for all the gas utility providers and they will pay it back over a 30 year term.

We are a smaller utility and we got hit with an $18,000,000 bill for that month. At the time our normal bill would run about $2,000,000
