I just noticed your firewood storage system. I may have to adopt that for overflow from the wood rack.

It was a good spot to keep it while the fence was down, but I've since used the leftover metal from the frame and welded up a metal rack for firewood storage as well.

Where did you buy all the metal posts and brackets? I really like them but aren't popular In houston. Any particular brand? How are the boards attached to the metal gate structure, self tapping screws?

I bought the materials from a local fencing supplier, including all the gate hardware, except for the metal for the frame itself, which came from a local metal supplier (Metal Mart). Sorry, they don't have a "brand", or a part number that I could affiliate with an online part number for reference.

The brackets are really similar to these, though I paid less, and they're not exactly the same: Link
The metal poles are called a "tuff 40", but they're a higher quality steel schedule 40 pole (10.5').

For the attaching the boards to the gate frame, I first attached the horizontal stringers by directly bolting them to the metal frame. Drilled a hole all the way through the 2x4 and the steel, with the nut on the exposed side. The pickets are screwed on top like they would be traditionally. I think this is better than lags, personally. And with screws, I could take the picket off if I needed to access the bolt head. If you zoom in, you can make out where the bolt heads are on the left side of this picture on the 2x4's:

And on the back, you can see one of the nuts (not painted):

Supplier is TexMex - https://texmexsupply.com/. They won't serve your area, but it could be worth a shot to call them and see who they buy from.

Lots to share:
  • Opener - Liftmaster CSL24UL - lots of options and some good information in the manual. Lot of contractors seem to use Eagle Openers here. Not sure they're all that great of quality or have as many features.
  • Safety Stops - Used a photo-eye for both travel directions. The opener came with one photo eye and one resistive edge, but I couldn't get the resistive edge to work and honestly not sure how it was supposed to work without a wireless version.
  • Wireless Gateway (for app connectivity) - Liftmaster 828LM - Came with my garage door openers, but compatible and worth it
  • Wall Push Button (wireless) - Liftmaster 885LM
  • Considered a keypad, but with the app, it was kind of pointless, honestly. Could always go back and add one
  • Considered an alarm for the kids, but it does beep 3 times before someone uses the app to open it, and a different chime if someone is standing in front of the photo-eye when you try to open it.
  • Still may install a couple of lights - 1. A floodlight for illuminating the driveway 2. A small indicator light so you can tell if the gate is moving while driving down the alley.
  • Not part of the gate kit, but the track heater is worth it if you get any snow.

Hope that helps!
