New house with a tankless water heater and I've been told I need to flush it yearly. Does anyone have any recommendations on a flushing kit or exactly what I need? I see some around $130 at Home Depot/Amazon.

Vinegar is your friend

Thank you! I'll get the kit and then have it year after year and use the vinegar.

Cleaning vinegar from Lowe's, a cheap transfer pump, a set of washer hoses, and a bucket. You can buy the items individually cheaper than a $130 kit. Get a $50-60 pump from Amazon or Harbor Freight. New hoses will run $10-15. You probably already own a bucket.

Can you link me to the hoses I need? I don't have any.

Just need a cheap set of washing machine hoses

ETA- it is generally recommended that you replace the hoses you use for your washing machine every 5 years. When I replaced mine, i kept the old ones to use in my cleaning kit. If you are moving into a new house, there's no better time to replace your old appliance hoses.

Like everyone else said, buy the pump, hoses and bucket. Much cheaper than that kit. I bought the pump below for $41 from Amazon (it's $50 today). I store the pump and hoses in the bucket that I use when cleaning. That bucket sits in the closet where my tankless water heater lives. Super simple to do once a year. Good luck!

Plus one on the Diy stuff. Will be half the price.

I open you have better luck than me. The Jerk that installed mine put the valves in the wrong way so that the drain hose connection is against the side wall. You can't get a hose on it.

I bought a cheap HF pump. Works great. Was told vinegar would eat it up, but if you flush it good with water after each use, I think it will last for years only using it once or twice a year. When it finally craps out, I will head back to HF. :-)
